Help Installing Volant!!

If anyone has installed a Volant Air Intake on a 5.4 I just have a few questions while I decide whether or not to try the install myself. I am decently comfortable with tools and I saw the box had few parts so thats why I figured I could do it myself.

How long did the entire install take? Is it hard to remove the stock air intake? Do you have to assemble the Volant and then install it or do you put the individual parts in and then put it together in the engine?

Is there any wiring or electrical handling invloved? I know I am supposed to disconnect the battery for a little while after I install it to reset the computer --- Any other tips or advice please let me know.

Thanks in advance.....

Also, where do I you put the breather hose?

Do I just find somewhere to put it face down in the engine bay??

Man, you can disconnect thet intake on the new 5.4L in about two minutes. Only 4 bolts and it pops right off. No biggie.

I havent installed a Volant myself but from the looks of it there is no real difficulty. It's mostly a snap on.

The breather hose attaches to the fender well, in front of the wheel. If you purchased the second intake hose, it attaches to the fender well behind the wheel. I hope this helps.

As far as installation, the fact that you see that it should be easy, tells me you proficient enough to do the job. Be sure to let us know how everything works out!!!!

So I hate to be a quitter but I gave up on the installation of the Volant for my 5.4

To say the install is straight forward would be a lie. I actually got the thing totally bolted on except for the throttle body just because I could not get the clamp on tight enough. Even after everything was on I had some extra parts (always a bad sign).

On the plus side I was able to completely remove the stock intake setup and put on 90% of the Volant. And then remove the Volant and put the stock intake back and the truck is still runnig perfect.

The Volant is tough to get situated. There are some awkward fit - such as the main box is hard to put where its supposed to go.

Anyways - I'm a loser its ok you don't have to rub it in. Monday bright and early I am taking the truck to my guys who will perform the install for me. Once its done I will post pics and try to get to the dyno as soon as I can. As for the whole 'problem' they are having I think it will be a non-issue. I am pretty sure if you reset your computer and have had your pcm reflashed (which I have) I am not anticipating any problems. Anyways I have a K&N air intake ordered which is not scheduled to arrive until Aug. 3rd. So if I do have a problem with the Volant, which I don't think I will, I might just remove it and install the K&N.

Poor instructions

neptuno1,

Don't feel bad about not getting it on. The instructions are a joke and poorly illustrated to say the least. I eventually printed out pics of the install from Volant's website before I could start my install.

It sounds like you actually got instructions. I got a piece of paper with a list of parts and it said 'instructions' across the top.

I can't say I am not disappointed, but I guess I should have expected it....
