Smile Hello to all!

Hello! This is kinda my first post.Just wanted to start by saying that since i started reading this forum ii have gotten alot of very good info. Thanks to all for that! I now have my fourth new ford truck 2004 f150 xlt reg. cab short bed 4x4 5.4l. Also had 95 long bed 4.9 6cyl. 97 short bed 5.4,2000 short bed 5.4 and now 04. This is by far the best one. The few complaints are bed shake and not quite as peppy as 2000 was. Thanks for all the info. Wes.

Hello. Yes i work for a body building company called Riechers Truck Body and Equip. co. in Washington,Mo. We build all kinds of custom stake beds, dump beds pretty much what ever you want.. I do the installation of all the equipment, including custom built hitches all kinds of hydraulic, electrical equip, lift gates. We also do wheel base changes. We manufacture all of our slat and flooring material from rough sawed oak.We also use wolmanized pine for flooring. So it's really all custom work. If you or any one ever sees a company with dark brown and creme colored trucks called Brickmann landscape Co.,thats a Riechers truck body. The reason i tell you is they are nation wide.

Welcome! I think after you get a few thousand miles on the 5.4, you'll notice it is probably as quick as the older 5.4's. I had 2 previous f150's with the 5.4 (1999 and 2001). I do think the "quicker-as-it-breaks in" phenomenon is real, not imagined.

Wes,
My mom is from Crawford county and I have 2 uncles that live in Owensville. I don't think that is very far from Washington. Brickman does all of the landscaping at the corporate park I work at...now I know where they get their custom trucks from (they can get a bunch of guys in those modified cabs!).

Wes-

Welcome to the board man! 'Nanner for you~

I agree about the power of the 2004 5.4. My '99 5.4 had more power off the line.

I guess I can tell a difference in the '04 after 200 ft or so, but it's hard to tell.

12,000 miles.

Hang around a while...you'll like it here.
