Drivr it 'til it drops?
My last truck (2 Door Tahoe) had 130k and 7 years on it. I wanted to keep it until 200k, but it kept breaking down and it was really tough to get a car seat in the back. I plan to keep this truck 8-10 years.

i normally keep my cars for 10-12 years, so i don't see why i wouldn't keep my new f150 at least that long. i hope to keep it longer. i normally put on 12k miles per year, so after 10 years that is only 120k.... heck thats just gettin broke in.
i use mobil 1, so i could easily see hitting 200k with it. that would be about 17 years. the rest of the truck might be beat by then though. no kids and i take care of stuff pretty well.
i like old cars. i drive a 1970 elcamino ss396 as my summer car.
just curious.... why do you guys use synthetic oil if you only keep your vehicles such a short time (review of the previous posts)? i know the difference between syntehetic and conventional oils but why worry about the engine wear if you aren't gonna be the one driving the car. for example... if i leased a car i would never put in synthetic. your lease may last for 36k for 3 years, so why put in synthetic.... i'm sure dino oil would work just fine for such a short period of time... becuase once i get rid of it i wouldn't care what kind of oil the new owner used. just my 2 cents

I traded in a '94 Mazda B4000 (Ranger clone) after about 95000 miles. Told the wife I was getting a Harley Roadking or a new truck. Needless to say, I'm still on 4 wheels. Love the 04 Supercrew, but that Harley itch is still there. Must be time to go rent one again. 8 hours in South Texas heat is usually all it takes to remind me how nice AC is.
Anybody know of a Harley AC unit?

I traded in my '91 Explorer on my new '04 Scab XLT, so I tend to drive my vehicles into the ground. I told my 8 yr old son that he'd probably end up getting this truck when he gets his license. Might as well get him started off right. My first vehicle was a '67 F100 short narrow bed.
I seem to trade way too often, and I already wanted to trade this truck since it had hail damage. Let's see here:
1996 Dodge Ram traded in for
1997 Chevy C1500 traded in for
2000 GMC Sierra traded in for
2001 Ford Lightning traded in for
2003 Ford Lightning traded in for
2004 Ford F-150
I also bought a 1998 Expedition while owning the Sierra and then I traded in that for a 2000 Excursion, which is now the longest vehicle I have ever kept, and I still plan on holding onto it for awhile.
I plan on holding onto this current F-150 until the 2006 Lightning comes out.

I've only had one brand new vehicle before the F-150 and that was my '98 Explorer. I had that for five years and put on 109,000 miles in that time. I anticipated keeping it longer, but things were starting to deteriorate rapidly, so I decided to get out. Plus I got bored with it.
Now I drive 50 miles a day, five days a week. I'm sure the miles will rack up. But what could be even more of a deciding factor, is the damn uncomfortable seat. I'll see how long I can put up with that. I went from extreme comfort in the Explorer to extreeme discomfort in the F-150. My plan is 6 or 7 years for this truck. But I'll usually sell it and not trade it in. Best to sell before you top 100,000 miles if you're going to.
132,000 miles on my 95 f150. Trying to hold out for an 05 150, living in the rust belt, it's easy for the powertrain to outlast the body. Already have some pretty good rust showing through! Did I mention I HATE RUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is absolutely nothing wrong with the truck other than the RUST, so it will be almost worthless when I sell/trade.
I'll drive it until I get stuck and a Titan is the only truck around to pull it out. Then I'll leave it and walk to the closest Ford Truck dealer and get another F150.
I'll drive it 'til it drops.

I drove my '86 F150 for 14 1/2 years. It had around 150,000 miles on it when I traded it in on a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. I had more trouble in 3 years with the Dodge than I ever had with my '86 F150. It had the straight six engine with a 4-speed. I hope to drive my '04 Lariat until the wheel fall off....
