Rough Idle
My truck has been idling very rough for awhile now and was now getting to the point where it shook change in centre console. So yesterday I disconnected the battery to reset the 'brain' of my beast, and it worked like a charm!!!! It has not run this good the whole time I have had it. After reconnecting the battery it took a few turns of the motor to catch, ran rough for a split second and then ran smooooooooooth! The only thing that sucked is I have to reset all the &^% on my clarion deck and I lost the milage I had on my counter. I also have the K & N air filter so maybe it is set up for it now? I highly recommend this quick fix for anyone that has a rough idle.

Ok, I put in a K&N and was getting worse gas mileage than before. It was suggested that I disconnect the battery and let it sit for a little bit then hook it back up. I did that, now the question is how do I know if it was off for long enough to make a differance? Had it undone for 5-8 min. When I started it I had to set the clock but all my stations were there. Took a few seconds longer to start then usual, just cranking and cranking. When I drove it, seemed like it had a little more power but really hard to say already. I can wait until I fill up again amd check the mileage, but wanted to know if I had done it long enough or do I need to reset it again
Hey RMills - basically same thing here. I put the new filter in and disconnected the battery for a few minutes. That was enough to do the trick. I always make sure I have the door open or the headlights on after the battery is disconnected so it draws out any built up capacitence. The interior lights and headlights will drain that off quickly.
Now, to the MPG. My milage appears to be a couple MPG better if I use the electronic MPG gauge. I'll check it manually on my next fill up, should be this week. I expect to see at least a 1 MPG gain overall. It shows about 2 MPG better on the highway if I look at the electronic gauge (assuming the gauge is accurate).
