What should I use to buff paint off my bumper?
What should I use to buff paint off my bumper?
I accidentally backed into a friend's garage the other day and have some paint/scratches on the driver's side corner of my rear bumper.
I tried to scratch it off gently with my fingernail, but it's on there pretty good. Should I use a rubbing compund to get that crap off
or would sonething like a clay bar work better? I don't think it's scratched very much at all, it just has paint from his garage stuck
to it. I'd post a pic but my Ex got the digital camera.

if you have chrome bumpers I have just the solution for you. some schmuck left their blue paint on my rear chrome bumper as they swiped across it. no dents, just lines of paint. I used Meguiar's Scratch-X to get the paint off. And as an added bonus I found that the Scratch-X does a hell of a job shining up the chrome bumpers. It takes out all those little black dust spots that you can't wash off of a chrome bumper with soap and water. Great product!
If you have painted bumpers, you can try it anyway, but I have no idea if it will be strong enough. Good luck!

Unfortunaltely I have painted bumpers, so It probably won't be as easy to get it off. I'm most woried about using something
overly abrasive and scatching it more just trying to get it off. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll have to go check that stuff
out.
I'm thinking that a clay bar is going to be my best alternative.

Last week I had car bump into the corner of my back bumper at a local drive-thru, and left some paint and small scratches. I buffed them out with rubbing compound and then applied a fresh coat of wax. Looks fine now. It hurt them more then it hurt me.
