Accessories

Hi!

New here, just picked up my XLT Supercab in black last Tuesday! It is my first ever pickup and I am thrilled!

Question: What should I add on? I realize that it is a personal decision but do bug deflectors work or are they largely cosmetic? Mudguards? Steprails? I already have the Linex. Rain/widow deflectors?

I appreciate any comments or suggestions!

Thanks!

Steve

First thing you need to decide is what kind of theme you want for your truck. Street truck, with 20 or 22 inch rims and street tires? Off road truck with all-terrian tires or mud tires and a brush guard and nerf bars? Nothing is worse than mixing components that don't match. For instance, a lowered truck with 22 inch rims and a huge brush guard and diamond plate toolbox. Once you decide that, you can start buying accessories by the ton.
As for you question on bug deflectors and do they work, the answer is yes and no. They don't do a thing as far as deflecting bugs away from your windshield but they do protect the front edge of your hood from stone chips and dents.
Also, congrats on the truck and welcome to the site.

Congrats on the new F150, they’re great trucks.

As far as accessorizing, it a personal choice. I strongly agree with wandell about picking a theme and sticking to it. Myself, I like a basic stock look with subtle mods that enhance the appearance rather than change it.

Good Luck with the New Truck!

that pretty much sums it right up.. congrats on the new truck.
i too am a first time truck owner and loving it so far. I found that the steps are great if you got vertically challenged folks trying to get in and out, and a bed cover works great towards looks and aerodynamics for gas mileage.. good luck drive on...

Who cares what people say, go with what you like, and dont let others make you think differently.

Or for those that dont use them have to step out of the vehicle 6 more inches and makes it really difficult,

Yea that extra 6” is a real horizontal leap. I was thinking about cutting mine down to 3” so it would be easier to get in and out.

speaking about people who don't get it. the purpose of the step is to help with stepping in or out NOT over. If the truck has a step
and your going through the trouble of trying to step over it rather
than use it for why it's there, maybe a truck is not what you should be in.. buy a lowriding camry
if the truck came without steps and you don't want them then don't put them on.

and do me a favor ' find someone else to try and pi$$ off

Good grief, we went from a simple question to someone going postal. If you dont have anything better to do maybe you need a hobby. With that said, Recurve, you dont need to ask others their opinions on accessories, that is a personnal choice. My advice would be to look through the galleries at accessories installed and decide what YOU like then check into buying those parts.

To bring this thread back on track.

Yes It's a personal choice,
If you want nerf bars on 4X2 or 22" rims with lowered body and a push bar, go for it (it's your truck, it's what you want, not what others think of you).

As for me, I go the neccessity route

Vent visors--for the dog (when she's waiting in the truck alone)

Nerf Bars--wife and kid can get into the truck now

Camper top--Second kid enroute and the dog needs a covered Place to travel

Bug guard--still looking for the right one (but the stone chips are killing me

Are there any good sites to buy this kinda stuff from? Are there any places that will send you a catalog in the mail if requested?

Thanks!
