Fuel Gauge Error

Filled up the truck this morning and drove about 4 miles back home. I just now noticed that my fuel gauge was sitting between 1/2 and 3/4.

My first thought was that someone had stolen some of my gas while I was parked at the gym, so I pulled into a station to fill 'er back up but it only took about 1/4 gallon. So the tank really is full but the gauge is wrong. Any thoughts?

Coincidentally, the truck was in the shop this morning for it's first oil change (free). As far as I can tell the tech did everything right. I checked the oil after I got the truck back and made sure there was indeed a new filter on.

My fuel gauge does the same thing but not every time. I fill up and it starts at half and works its way to full after 5-10 minutes. Will have it looked at at the dealer if it gets worse.

Parked mine once at about 1/2 a tank. When I started up and left it read full, thought it was a gift from god until a couple days later it went bacl down to where it should have been all at once when I started it. Never happened again

Thanks for the replies. My gauge went back up to full today. it did take awhile though, at least 10 minutes of driving.
