Question Bull Bars - Opinion/ Feedback Wanted

I've been researching various brands of bull bars. The only thing I don't care for with the seemingly popular Westin are those black caps on the ends of the horizontal bar. I guess the horizontal bar isn't welded behind that. Anyone have one installed and know if its possible to install without the black end caps?

Anyone have the Putco "Boss Hog Bar"? The only pictures I can find of it online are on a Excursion.

I had my heart set on a Go Rhino's "Rhino Charger!" but they are impossible to get.

I've been more than happy with my Westin bar. The black caps aren't that big of deal to me because my bar is black, but I could see where this would look bad on the chrome bar. I've never looked at them that close but I feel pretty confident in saying that yes they're welded behind that black cap. The westin bar is pretty stout feeling so there has to be more than just a plastic cap holding it together.

I personally don't mind the caps on the Westins (got a black truck it's no big deal). I hardly notice until I polish the chrome and the compound turns the plastic white.

Question: Do you not like how the caps clash on the Westin chrome bull bar or is it that you do not care for the caps at all even on the black bull bar?

There are some pics in my gallery of the chrome westin bull bar. It comes assembled so I don't know what's under the black caps.

Why are the Rhino Chargers "so hard to get"? I really like the fact that they are 2.5 inches in diameter versus the 3" of the competition. I think the 3" is too large for the truck and I may eat my words when I purchase mine, but so far this is the one I plan on purchasing. I like the black with chrome skidplate but the removal of the towhooks doesn't impress me. Otherwise, I love the looks.

One guy was decent enough to tell me why they are hard to get. It appears that Go Rhino had filed for chapter 11 a few months back and are having a hard time meeting production goals for all its items. Every vendor I spoke with said it would be a long wait for that item to be avilable and tried to push a Westin instead (because they are so plentiful). I totally agree with your opinion of the 2.5" vs. 3". I'd love to see the Putco Boss Hog Bar (although it too is 3") on a F150 to compare it to the Westin in case I can't get my hands on a Rhino!Charger.

Just bought a BOSS HOG BAR....so it won't be long and you will get your wish answered...I tried to install it tonight however I had the same problem no tow hooks,,,and I need to buy the 4x4 valance I guess....I am thinking about welding the bracket on and say the hell with the piece that goes inside our box frame...because my bar did not come with those,,,you would have thought that it would. Anyways I will keep yall updated HOWEVER I think that the STAINLESS STEEL lifetime warranty will be worth the money...I HOPE...LOL

Here is my Putco Bullbar. I installed a driving light behind the F-150 cutout and tinted the lense blue so that it stands out more.
Later Trev

This is a bar made by Hunter. Excellent quality and IMO looks very good. Easy install and inexpensive compared to some.

No bull bars for me. I'll be getting the Road Armor Raptor in the near future. You never know when a deer might come across me in LA or the need for a road rage deterrent.
