cruise control for STX

My STX didn't come stock with cruisecontrol, I bought a leather steering wheel with cruisecontrol. does anyone know if everything else is already in the truck to just add the steering wheel, I assume it is with the throttle by wire etc. that these trucks have.

Check out this thread. It should answer your question. I have been considering it also.

I just bought a steering wheel today for my XL from a guy on eBay. It's a leather one with cruise. It was the best purchase yet as it was only $100.00.

He has a few more some have the radio controls and then he also has some base wheels with cruise. These can probably be had for what I paid or cheaper. You might even be able to get the base wheel and put the cruise buttons on yours if it came without. Also he has at least one leather that has no controls on it at all.

Check it out!

I thought lower end trim packages had different wiring harnesses, making it impossible to add things that the other trucks had??

That would make the cost of the trucks go up because they havew to make more than one harness. They stopped making multiple harnesses a few years back. I know every mustang I have owned since 91 they were all the same just minus the parts to make the other trim levels.

The radio controls you will need to have the audiophile stereo for that to work. At least this is what I have been told.

the trucks are built mostly with the same stuff in all models, just the higher end models have the buttons/switches to use the feature. like for an alarm, the STX and XL already have the alarms in them. but you pay $500 to have it activated. took them 15 minutes to do that. i think probably 90% of the high end stuff is in the lower end models, just no buttons to use it.

I installed the steerng wheel over the weekend and had Ford flash the PCM yesterday and all is well. Also I bought a brand new CD/Tape/radio off eBay and it's in as well. The flash cost me an hours work because they haven't done anything like that before and said when I do the cluster they will only charge half an hour for that.

So Ford charged me $85.00..

Later,
Matt

Next up is A1 Electric power windows and keyless entry.

Do you know about how much the electric windows and keyless entry setups are? I'm interested in upgrading my XL to those later on. Thanks, Brian

From what I have read these are easy installs with good instructions.

I will order this stuff in a few weeks.

Then I just need tint, wheels, tires and a leveling kit.

Did you change your steering wheel yourself, is there any issues doing that with the airbag?
