Angry Bad Tie Rods

10,000 Miles and I need tie rods , I could feel something loose in the front end so when I was changeing my oil I jacked up the front end and sure enough the right tie rod is toast. my front tires are all chewed up now also. I hope it is just a fluke cause I really dont fell like changeing them every 10,000 miles.....

Man I hate that happened to your truck. Everyday I hear about how something else has went wrong with the new f-150. And it's making me want to look elsewhere, as in a different brand of truck sad to say. I hope this is just a rare issue that is dealt with promptly. Good luck with getting it fixed.

Peacemaker, try the message boards for other truck brands including the much ballyhoo'ed Nissan Titan. You'll quickly see the owners of other brands seem to have many gripes also. Having said that, I would take a lot of what you read on these forums "with a grain of salt" as they say.

Your problably right n99gt. I woke up this morning and turned on my computer and went straight to the 2004 forum on f150online and this was the first thread I read. Needless to say, that really made my morning. But the first year of any new vehicle is bound to have its problems as I have learned. Good luck with your problems yellow stx. For all I know, the factory problably forgot to lube the tie rod ends. Which caused them to fail prematurely. Just a guess?

Only 10,000miles and you need tie rods, that BS. Is the dealership going to replace the tie rod and give you a new tire too? They should, it’s not your fault the dam thing went bad.

I have been lurking the past several weeks; contemplating if I should downsize from my 02 f250 crew. Well yesterday (for fathers day) I bought an 04 f150 Screw. It's not here yet, they are trailering it from AZ. to NE.

BUT.......with all the posts I've read on the various subjects/ problems you can't take everything toooo serious. I hope this new truck is half as reliable as me crew has been. It's been Awesome.

Thanks to all of you that post and provide meaningful info! It made my decision process much easier.

Truck goes in tomorrow for the tie rod, so I'll let ya know. Don't get me wrong, I love my truck just kinda sucks. I agree that it's probably just a first year glitch, or the guy that lubes the tie rods had to pee lol...

"4.2L V6/5-Speed" ???

You are prime for a Chevy Avalanche or Pontiac Aztek for the next vehicle stud!
