Am i wrong or right about air conditioning problem
I would appreciate the feedback on this one guys.. I have been having trouble with my air in my new 2004 F150. When i select Max/AC it only stays on for 15 minutes. A friend of mine has the exact same truck and his stays on until the truck is turned off. Anyway, I took it to the dealership and they tell me that this is designed this way to keep the AC from burning up. I call BS on this. Does anyone know if it is or isn't suppose to go off after 15 minutes. If it is I want mine broken like my friends.
Mine stays on until I turn it off. If I shut the truck off, it will reset and have to be turned back on. I've never heard of the A/C burning up because it’s set on Max A/C to long. It sounds like your service department is pulling your leg.
The A/C in my runs for as long as I have the button is set to on. I don't have any auto climate controls system in my truck and that is what is probably shutting yours down? Sounds like a programming problem with the A/C system electronics, a compressor will not burn up from extended use if it has proper voltage to it and proper plumbing done.
Wernst, if you have EATC, which I can only assume you do. the owners manual states that it will turn of the recirc by itself.
Recirculation control: Press to activate/deactivate air
recirculation in the cabin. Recirculated air may reduce the amount of
time to cool down the interior of the vehicle and may also help reduce
undesired odors from reaching the interior of the vehicle. Recirculation
can be engaged manually in any other airflow selection except Defrost.
Recirculation may turn off automatically in all airflow selections.

yeah.. i saw that but I'm confused about what is correct now. A bunch of people here, including my friend's F150 2004 doesn't switch itself off. so?

The lariat doesn’t have a Max A/C button but it does have the recirculation control button. When I use my R/C button it has never turned off by itself, I always disengage it because it’s getting to cold in the cab.

Yeah sorry about that.. When I said Max AC I was meaning recycled air button. I have a Lariat with the electronic controls. I still see no reason why Ford would have designed this to go off after 15 minutes. Like I mentioned before, my friend with the exact truck doesn't have this problem.
The EATC in my Lariat will stay in recirc. indefinitely, but only when the A/C is engaged. Without the A/C on, it turns itself off after 60 seconds. I took it in back in December complaining of this and they replaced the "EATC Module", which is the whole head unit with the display and buttons. The new one does the same thing as the old one which leads me to believe that the PCM is to blame for this. However, I had a reflash during the same visit and - no difference. So, I gave up and I just live with it.
