If Ford says jump off a cliff, would you do that too? I'm not putting in some crappy conventional 5W20 when I know that Mobil1 SuperSyn 5W30 is a superior product. Oh, and it's not going to harm my engine.

dzervit.....

if my body was designed that i could jump off a cliff, then i would. if your engine is designed to run 5W20, then run it.

5w30 mobil 1 is not the recommended cross over for mobil 1. you should use 0W20 mobil 1. read the specs on the mobil 1 website.

but i know......... you know everything and what's best.

i go by specs and engineering data. i read instructions and owners manuals too.

hey..... this is what makes america great. if someody wants to put orange juice in his gas tank becuase he thinks it will increase gas mileage.... nobody is going to stop him.

It's about time somebody realized that!!

I know, to each his own. But the folks that say to drain the oil and replace it?! Puh-leeze!!

Saw that, I'll probably switch sometime. But they didn't have any on the shelves when I went to buy for my oil change, so in went the 5W30. No harm done. Still better than a conventional 5W20.

i fully agree. i am a firm believer in mobil 1 (use it in all my vehicles). i plan to use the 0W20 when i do my first oil change.

The 5w-20, 5w-30 issue is not going to make that big of a diffrnece. You might see 1/4 psi difference in your oil psi, but your gauge will be right in the middle where it should be. The 30 isnt going to cause anything to stop turning or anything like that. In reality, the 30 might be a little better in hotter climates, whereas if you live in Minot, ND, the 20 would be the way to go. Just as long as it isnt gearlube, or " Goldstar " oil from the gas station, your Ford will be a-okay.
Thats my professional opinion anyway, plus it get another post on my counter.

I remember one time, somebody asked me what I preferred, briefs or boxers. I told them I liked to free ball, so that one was pretty helpful. Actually, since I didn't pick one he asked about, I guess it didn't help at all.

That's about the only one that was close though. Ah, who am I kidding. I suck.

Well, makes no difference to me if somebody runs 5W20 or 20W50 or Marvins Mystery oil with a pint of STP thrown in for smoke and mirrors affect - its your truck. However....

Mobil1 says the correct oil for the 5.4 3V is 0W20, and if the oil maker is telling you that perhaps you should listen.

Remember, the variable valve timing system on this truck is oil pressure controlled, and I am certain that there are all kinds of little tiny orifices specifically designed for 5W20 viscosity oil.

Something to think about.

Talking

I was thinking about trying some Goccia Umbra extra virgin 5W20 next change, suppose to lower your engines cholesterol level
