Borla on a 2004

I have a 2004 screw with the 5.4. I have pretty much decided on a borla split rear exit cat back. But before I dump near 600 bucks on it I would like to solicit the opinions, good or bad, from the experience of this board.

What improvements did you see. Was anything lost? How loud is the system and does it have any annoying characteristics. Basically if you have spent the money and installed it would you do it again.

Thanks!

projetmech, I love the Borla SIDO. Not too loud but very throaty when you get up on it. I have noticed a performance increase but I don't think it has done much to help my gas mileage. Maybe I just have more of a leadfoot so I can hear it growl . There is no drone while cruising. Only problem I had was getting the old exhaust off the grommets. Other than that I would definitely spend the money again.

Yes, I would do it again. The only drawback for adding Borla or any other aftermarket exhaust is the COST. Once you get over spending the $555 (ebay, ajusa.com, etc., -- S&H included), then you're free and clear. The install is easy enough. You can pay someone to do it, but just about everyone on these forums did it on their own.

I do notice an increase in HP ... a touch here and there. Gas mileage shouldn't really change.

To read (a lot) about the Borla and its install, search these forums for "borla" and my username "GordoPanocho" ... or YellowFX4SCrew. No offense to grayflare, Zoltan, and others who've posted a lot of good info on the board, but you'll hit the bigger (all the info you need) forum threads with either Yellow.. or myself.

Like I said, past the money, just do it! It's a sweet look (IMO), it's all stainless steel, it has a 1,000,000 mile warranty, and it sounds r-e-a-l-l-y good.

But what about Manufacture Warranty

I like to hear good things about the Borla, but my question is;

Does it void Ford Warranty?

thanks

Page 1.........it only voids the warranty on the exhaust. But, since you have basically a lifetime warranty on the new exhaust, that shouldn't be a problem.

Now.......from what the service guy at ford told me, if something happens in the engine because of lack of back pressure, that voids the warranty on the engine. I'm thinking to myself, if it was going to cause damage for lack of back pressure, then nobody would be doing it.

Hey Battery,

Sounds like you are driving my truck from the description you gave. I ended up ordering the borla si/do. I posted requesting input and didn't get the response that I thought I would. I took that as if people are happy they are quiet. Since no one came back with any problems or bad experiences I assumed it was worth getting and it should be here early next week. Once I bolt it on and drive it I will post any comments so that any one else interested can know.

If installing the Borla split rear cat back on a 4x4 F-150 (2004), do you need to remove the spare tire? I looked at Gibson and they definitely say that you have to remove the spare to install their catback system. I'm kind of hesitating on a new catback until I can find one that doesn't force you to remove the spare.

Any help or info is appreciated.

i emailed the seller and he says unless the spare is much larger than stock it can stay in place. from some pictures i have seen on this site that looks to be true. however i will be able to tell you for sure next week.

I put my Borla cat back system on a few weeks ago and didn't have to do anything with the spare, which is the stock size.

Gee Baja, how many times you going to ask??

If you go with the Magnaflow dual out, you don't have to remove the tire.
