Bad radio

Well I almost got 1000 miles on my new F150 Lariat, only problem is I have a big whole in my dash where the radio is suppose to be. It was not getting any signal from any am or fm. The cd worked fine, took it in now they tell me it will be 5 to 7 days to get it repaired!!!!! I am going on vacation next week and they at Brighton Ford in Brighton Mi. cannot tell me it will be done for sure. Called Ford Motor customer service and it seemed like they could care less. It seems to me that there should be some kind of replacement rotation from either Ford or the dealership where they would just replace it and then send the bad one out to be repaired. At least I had the cd working before. I just replace my 1997 F 150 with the 2004, funny thing everything worked on the old truck. I don't know if it is the dealership or Fords call on this one, but I am not real happy about it!!! Probably will take my repair work to another dealership after this even if I get the same results, my choice I guess.

I also purchased my truck from Brighton Ford. It seems like they would just give you a brand new radio instead of repairing yours. You could tell them about your trip and possibly they could give you a loaner radio. The people at the dealership seemed to be willing to work with me. Although I have yet to have any service issues. I hope they fix the problem before your trip.

I work at a Ford dealership, to be honest theres not much we can do as far as ordering you a new radio. Ford does not allow us to order new radios. We have to send them to an exchange facility. Under warranty conditions they will send us a new radio within 3 days. Its going to be the same way at any Ford dealership, I feel your pain but there is nothing we can do about it. Thats the way Ford does things. Sorry

huh....sounds like the antenna is just disconnected....you could check it yourself. It's a bright orange cable that just pushes into the lower right side of the head unit....

Well they did not seem care to much at the dealership. As for the exchange in 3 days ,not going to happen they take mine and rebuild it. Lucky for me a friend of mine had an aftermarket put in his 2004 and loaned me his till mine gets fixed. If I owned or operated a dealership this would seem like the best way to satisfy a customer with this problem, having a loaner. What would it cost to have one to do this? I think you are right about it being this way at all dealerships, but I would certainly try my best to satisy the customer. They don't seem to care at my dealership, said 5 to 7 days till it may be back, did not care when I told them I sure needed it to go away next week.TJ where do you work?
