'04 Reliability?

I know it's too new to really know, but what have you guys been hearing? Thumbs up or down for reliability of Ford's latest greatest truck? I want to know before I order. I'm getting a pretty simple Regular Cab 5.4L 2WD. Thanks a million.

BTW, I'm still rooting for Jimmie Johnson #48 Monte Carlo after I get the F150!

I've got just over 7,000 miles on mine so far. I haven't seen the dealer since I bought it No troubles at all...nothing. It's still fairly new though...but I figured if something was junk it would have made itself known right away. We'll see how it holds up.

My early-production (10/03) XLT Screw with 8K miles has been faultless...expect it to remain that way for many years to come!

Mine has 21k miles on it. In the grand scheme of things it is quite reliable. I think there are a few things that Ford needs to address such as the throttle body sensor seems to go bad on them a lot. Also the rear end shudder seems to be a common problem. My experience so far is that Ford is addressing these issues and getting them fixed pretty promptly. Over all the truck is extrememly solid. I couldnt be happier with it.

Any first year vehicle is going to have some problems. I am surprised though at how few the new F-150 has. The rear end thing has been talked about by a few people on these boards, but it seems to have died down a bit on the later production models. The A/C thing seems to be an issue with some people as well, but every 04 I have ridden in has been great with A/C. I guess its an isolated thing. Outside of that, they have been quite good.

No problems to report

I have had no issues with my 2004 F150 SCAB ( 5.4 ) 3.73LS.
Best F150 I have owned ( this is my 3rd ).

Be sure to get the 5.4 its worth it. I drove several 4.6 models vs 5.4, the 4.6 is a good motor, but the 2004 F150 feels a bit underpowered with it.

I can only reply on my truck...

10,000 and no problems.

I had to have the clutch pack replaced for the rear end 'slipping' at very low speeds/turns. It was worse on a cold start than it was after I got going. It was more of a nuisance than anything else. The truck still ran fine. I dropped it off one morning on the way to work and it was ready by noon. No money out of my pocket. Ford even put me into a 2004 SuperCrew from Enterprise for the day. Very convenient.

Still truckin'!

build date 9/03

Just shy of 9,000 miles and no major or minor problems. Had one bad tire that was replaced within the first 1,000 miles and besides that, everything’s good. If I do have any problems in the future, I am already prepared with a box of these.
