anyone else had this installed recently? I know this is an old thread but I am picking up my truck in 3 weeks. Thinking about having this done prior to receiving the truck. I was quoted $500 for a complete front end wrap (hood, fenders, grill, and bumper(s)) plus front 2 windows tinted. Good price?

Thanks,

Brian

I think that is a decent price. Make sure they do the head and driving lights also. Make sure it is a reputable place because I have seen cars running around with off brands that have turned nasty colors. I have a shot of my hood and fender in my gallery. Have fun with the truck.

It doesn't include the lights...It is 3m they are using. They do all the dealerships and the high end cars (porsche, vette, ferarri). They guy does it all freehand. Is $500 a good price for a wrap?

Price is a bit high

Runnerbl:

I didn't read back on the entire thread but I did catch the price you were quoted.......$500. That seems slightly high to me based upon my experience 17 or 18 months ago. I paid just under $350 for the whole enchilda. The front foot or so of the hood, upper fenders, upper and lower painted bumpers in the "normal" (8 ml?). I also had him do the headlights and foglights...much thicker material...40 mil?. I now have 34K on my truck and the 3M film has held up nicely. I'm a real stickler on the appearance of my truck and I keep it quite cleaned, waxed, etc. The film isn't perfect as I do have two or three "dings" to the film on the lower bumper but from what I can determine, the paint beneath is not chipped. Considering I have several chips on my windshield, the stuff has definitely been tested. I will undoubtedly put this on my next new vehicle.

I am going back an forth on whether or not to get the hood done. I want to put on a bugshield and don't really know if it is necessary to get the hood done. Any opinions? Is this duplication? Thinking about seeing if he will trade out the hood for doing both sides down at the bottom 12 inches of the truck where debris usually sticks to and chips the paint....ALso, the 2 front windows tinted are included in that price..

Thanks for the replies...

Brian

Brian-

Getting the hood done AND putting a bugshield on would probably be a bit of an overkill. Personally, I've had several bugshields over the years on different trucks and I'm not a big fan of them. Some of the cheaper ones rubbed and in general, I don't like their look..........with the exception of the color coded ones (or the clear ones painted to match your trucks color). One of the main reasons I got the "film" was the clean look that it maintains on the truck. To each his own. Just my opinion.

With regards to doing the lower 12" or so of your truck........that's not a bad idea. I have the large, chrome Ford nerf bars on my Screw and live in a climate without snow, salt, mud, etc. and I'm only off-road maybe 5% of the total miles I put on it so personally, I wouldn't spend the extra dough to put it on the sides. I did have the guy put on a 6" by 6" square of the film on the top of my Snuglid SL tonneau cover where you put your key in to unlock it. I've got quite a number of keys on my chain and after unlocking it a couple times and seeing the potential for keys on the chain to drop down onto the tonneau. The guy did that for free and I'm glad I had him do it.

I don't guess that one ever happend huh? LOL! I don't think it will either based on the fact that I was utilizing my 01 KR as the test subject.

Don't hold your breath on this one...

Thanks for your reply. I have the same thought that the bugshield would be overkill but here is my reasoning. I will be in Colorado where the use sand as a part of the clearing of the roads. This sand really pits the windshields. I was thinking that with a bug guard that it will it at force some of the debris up and vover the cab rather than directly on the windshield. I have seen the clear bras on other vehicles and am not really a big fan of the line across the hood but I guess the shield is less of a downfall than many rockchips in the front. I have the True Blue and wonder if that dark of a color it will be even more noticeable. Again, Thanks for your time in answering my questions and giving an honest opinion. I know I can buy the 3m 12" strips on ebay for about $40 per side. It looks like it would be simple on straight lines. Since you had both the upper and lower painted bumpers can you tell me what part was covered? Was it just the flat surfaces. Did they cover all the curves. If you could provide my a number where I can contact you I would like to ask you several of these types of questions. You can send me a pm. The upper bumper has a flat per say top then it curves and has the flat front. Did your installer bend/stretch over the curve or is that where the cut is and then cover the front sepearte?

Thanks again,

Brian

Sorry to dig up an old post but I want to protect the investment in my depreciating vehicle. Wait, that's an oxymoron..hehe...I don't really want to spend $500 and not get what I a hoping for. I am wanting to have this done before I pick up the vehicle. The dealer is actually picking me up at the airport with my new truck. Just want it protected before it leaves the lot.

Thanks,

Brian

I have the Gray on the bottom and with 6k miles on it, I have many chips.

Is this due to quality of paint? Can I do anything to protect this from reoccuring all of the time?
My son had the same problem on his 2004 screw lariet with 4k Took it back to the dealer and took off front and rear bumpers and repainted

Very nice....

It's going to be a tough sell but, maybe I'll toss this option on the table for my stealership around 35,000 miles. LOL!
