steering shimmy & dealer
Hi all,
Yes I have a bad shimmy in my steering wheel, have the newest steering box and after 2 trips to Friendly ford they told me we have to live with the problem becouse of the stiffer frame picks up more vibration from the road. Also said ford engineers are well aware of the problem.
Any comments would shure help in my upcoming battle.
Thanks,
John

Many of us continue to experience the same problem. Personally, I can state that it is NOT the tires - I've tried three sets and three road force balances. Also, a new driveshaft and a new steering rack did not cure the vibration

Puzzling how some 04’s have problems that can’t be corrected by the dealership; on the other hand, so many 04’s have no problems at all. My truck has been trouble free. Initially had a bad tire and a bad coil wire. One trip to Ford and all is well. I now have driven approximately 9,000 miles; trouble free. Good luck getting the shimmy fixed. I can’t imagine a competent dealership will not be able to fix the problem, and fast.

FYI, My '04 FX4 started out fine, but now it is exhibiting vibration problems and shimmy. Started at about 8000 miles, and it's getting worse. Should have been happening since zero (0) miles if what that dealer told you is true! I haven't had the time or the inclination to take it in for repair yet, but will have to soon.
