F150 Aftermarket Head Unit and Rear DVD

Curious if anyone has run into and knows how to fix.

Put a new head unit in the truck. Kenwood DVD. Now we cannot get the rear dvd to integrate. Installed said that the wires from the DVD to the stock head unit were a databus and would not work with the aftermarket head unit. Said might be able to find a wiring harness or something to fix this.

Anyone else run into this?

Thanks in advance.

I had the In Dash Changer not the audiofile system in the truck.

I thought about putting a new Kenwood DVD head unit in my truck, Kenwood DDX7015. Specs said DVD would only work in Park mode, not moving, anyway around this? I wanted to do the same thing you are doing, integrate with the rear overhead DVD console? Sorry I don't know the answer, somebody on here should...

Also was looking at the Kenwood KNA-DV3100 Navi system and TV tuner Kenwwod KTC-V500N. Are you putting a TV tuner in ?

I was told by the audio shop where I am going to buy my 7015, that all they have to do is ground the wire that senses when the parking break is on or off. That way I can view the dvd without having to put the parking break on.

I am not sure what the US dollar amount is but I am paying 1456 plus 15% taxes, here in Canada just for the head unit.

Thanks,

If you haven't bought it from your local stereo shop yet, sometimes I'll pay a little more and buy things from where I get my work done. I was doing some internet searching and found it for $1,199.00 US at

I know ebay also has them for pretty cheap also, but I prefer not to buy large expense electronics outside of Canada, due to warranty issues. Most companies won't warranty an item in Canada if purchased from the US. Which means of having to go through the hassles of shipping it back across the border.

Good points...Will you be able to use the Cordless head sets with the Kenwood & Factory Roof DVD? Can you listen to the radio from the speakers while you play the Kenwood DVD and Factory Roof mounted DVD at the same time and listen to them by using the cordless headsets?

Not sure about anything to do with factory dvd. My screw has the sunroof option, which is why I am going to get the dvd player to replace my audiophile head unit, that way there is something to watch. Would also like to hook up a ps2, something else to do on long trips.

I got the rear DVD for friends and my 14 yr old daughter. Do you have the rear sub and I think there is an amp under the passenger side bench. Did you get the factory single disc or 6 disc?

Yes I have the rear sub, under rear seat, and the 6 cd in dash stereo. To be honest it sounds great. If someone only made an adapter for the aux button on the radio, I would not replace the head unit. With the aux button, I could just use a ps2 to play dvd, and mount an lcd screen.

7015 Question

Just installed the DDX7017 unit and works/looks great. If anyone else has installed it, I'd like to ask a question about the EQ system on your unit. Mine may be having a problem and wanted to check with other owners.

If you could email me at sbextra3@aol.com, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

I installed the ddx 7015 with a back up camera. THe DVD player works while in motion and so does the camera.

Photos of the install:

Good luck!

Wiss -- what are the details of your backup camera? Brand, model, where you bought it, how much $$?

I will be using a Swann Outdoorcam, color weatherproof day/night security camera, just need to rig up a power adaptor from the trailer power plug (8-12v/300mA, 1.5W) -20c -> +60c. Should be a snug fit in the tow hitch. Must remember to make it removable though!

Did you weatherproof the cables you used to feed the cam to dash or just have stock RCA ?
