Drivers Door Rattle?
Does anyone with a SuperCab have a problem with their doors rattling? My drivers side door rattles near the top of the door frame when I hit an abrupt bump or drive on a gravel road. When I drive the truck you can see the top section of the door frame move in and out against the weatherstrip (Not quite road noise, but almost a rapid thud sound Real annoying). Near the top on the rear section of the door frame it's moving to much and it's annoying. I took truck to the dealer. The service writer told me when I picked it up that the Tech had adjusted the door latch all the way in. It's at it's max. limit inward.
The repair lasted about a day and now is back to making the rattle or rapid Thud, Thud sound. I don't know if it's the stiffer 4X4 suspension that attributes to this or what???
What do you think? Go back to the dealer and get another body service Tech?

I had the same rattle and they adjusted both the top and the bottom latches. You may want to check that the door is fully closed because after the adjustment, the top latch on mine will only partially latch unless you close it pretty hard. You can check this out by closing the door gently and looking at the top and then try again closing it harder. you should be able to see the difference.
Thanks for the input you guy's. That's why this forum is so great!
Hey Cincy,
Thanks for the Tip! I checked it and the door was not closed as you described. I did the slam thing and it seem to take care of it. There is way too much plastic being used where metal should be used IMO. An engineering compromise using economics. (I'm a materials engineer by trade).
Yea Lonnie, I know it bugs you because it bugs me.
Over the years, I always like the sound of Ford doors closing on passenger cars and trucks. They always closed with authority and soundly. My 1973 mom's Ford LTD sounded the same as my '87, 90 Mustangs and my '98 F150. I started out with a tank, a 1962 Ford F-250 4X4. The thing was solid! I've owned other makes and that's one major thing I always noticed is how the door's sound when they are closed.
I guess as things are getting lighter and lighter, so a good positive slam is what it will take. Hope it doesn't break! Ha!
