Mud Flaps

This might be a dumb question. I bought Husky mud flaps for the front of my 04 Scab Lariat. They seem to fit fine with factory black running boards. The clear film protection seems over kill to me, or maybe I'am just lazy. I was just wondering what others have done.

I put the clear film on, and also sprayed rustproofing from behind where I ran the screws through the fender.

The Ford Mud flaps don't come with the protective film. When I put the Husky's on the front, I didn't use the protective film. It certainly can't hurt (and probably does help) to use it, but I didn't think it was necessary.

Anybody got a pic of their mudflaps? And what kind of 'clear film' are you guys applying? where are you applying it? Like the 3M stuff, or a film for the flap itself? I'm so

Its 3M stuff just for the lip on the flap, where it goes over the fender flare. That make sense? I put it on there. I decided not to be that lazy.
