A few questions...

Hey all, I'm new here and just bought a 2004 STX single cab flareside a month ago after owning a 1998 F150 for 6 years. She's a beauty all right, but I have a few questions:

1. I've read about the vibration and whine that everyone else has posted on, but I haven't experienced this yet. My truck just hit 4,000 miles. Has anyone experienced this on the STX model?

2. Do the Poweraid throttle body spacers really increase fuel efficiency? I'm looking to increase mine and looking for a few tips.

3. This last question is pretty far out there, but I'll ask it anyway. The model I bought didn't come with cruise control, but I had to wait a long time before the dealer could ever locate the truck I wanted, so when they found one I grabbed it. The lack of speed control is the only drawback. Does anyone know if cruise can be added after the fact, either in the dealership or by a kit?

Thanks in advance for responding,

Will

1. If you don't have the vibration by now, don't worry about it.
2. No
3. Ford, as of now, does not offer one that I can find. You may have difficulty finding one aftermarket as most of them rely on a throttle cable. Check with your dealer's service department, since it run's through the PCM, they may be able to add the components on for you.

I have yet to see anyone report positively regarding throttle body spacers. If you're looking for mods to improve gas mileage, consider getting e-fans and an underdrive pulley.
I haven't seen where anyone with an '04 (new style) has gotten e-fans, but I know that Troyer Performance is supposed to be fitting some on their truck. If they confirm they have a set that fit well, I plan on getting them.

Good luck,

Im pretty sure if you go to Ford Genuine Accesories website, there is a new steering wheel with cruise control on it. Not sure how to install it, but it might be something to check out.

Well, first of all, I have to say congrats.

-As far as the whining and shudder goes, at 4k you should be out of the clear. I have the STX heritage, havent had one single problem (except someone stole my fishing pole out of the bed)

-I heard (~HEARD~) somewhere that cruise can be added to a vechicle that didnt originally come with it, and it is very pricey. I dont see why they couldnt. I have a buddy that used to work for FORD. I can ask him for ya.

Roboots21 is correct.
The steering wheel is the only part that needs to be replaced.
Have the ford dealer do it because after it is installed the computer needs to be told that it now has cruse control.

Can you get the steering wheel for an XLT and not the Base as I would like to upgrade from the base to a nicer leather wrapped one? I only saw it was a base one. 155.95 is not bad. I know that you have to go to the dealer so they can hook up and tell the computer it has cruise. Better to have them do the install.

Thanks,
Matt
