Question Really liking BLACK bumpers ... how to get on the cheap/free?

Maybe I'm crazy, maybe not. I'm thinking that I  r-e-a-l-l-y  want black front/rear bumpers ... as found on black FX4's. I've been checking out some gallery pics and it's only making me want them more.

So, has anyone changed out bumpers? Easy/hard? Is this something a dealership should do for me?

I know I can't afford to buy them. I guess I'd probably have to find someone who wanted my Lariat 4x2 chromes. But, I'm thinking that will be quite difficult. Plus, I have the Reverse Sensing System (RSS). Anyone I found with which to swap would have to have this option as well.

Hmmmmmm...........

You might want to check with your local body shop about a quote to paint them. To be done properly, the chrome would have to be removed which is actualy pretty cheap. I'd guess $300 - $400 would get your bumpers painted if you R&R them yourself. Here is another gallery with painted bumpers

I agree with Sticker Steve, but why not leave the chrome bumpers and add a little more chrome or billet. Black and chrome is the way to go

Well, I'm trying to get away from the chrome. I generally like it, but prefer to go all black on my truck. I've already swapped out the Lariat grille with chrome surround for a black XLT version.

I agree with Gordon, the all black bumpers were the only thing that made my decision for an FX4 over the lariat. All black is looks so clean.
