Should I buy a 2004...

Right now I'm driving a cheap 91 chev half ton, ( got to to love the am radio but, no payment's, no payments, )kind of a beater until I decide if I want to stay loyal to ford. I have posted some complaints pertaing to a 2002 f-150 I leased and the problem's it had.

I realy liked the f-150, but got tired of the endless warrenty repairs. Built ford tough, soft on the road hard on the driver..

So, to the previous f-150 owner's who are now driving the 2004, is this truck worth the hype and worthy of your hard earned dollar. I have driven one with a 4.6 ( 2002 had the 5.4 ) and I kinda liked it.

I really whised you get a 5sp manual in thease new trucks as I hate automatics, But, any how let me know how your doing with your truck.

I love my 2004 FX4 Supercrew, what I wanted back in 2000, had to settle for a 2WD scab instead. But last Sept, finally could afford a new one, got what I wanted. No problems, except I broke my fuel door, but fixed it myself. It is an all plastic assembly, just don't open it too far. Handled great on the snow and ice up in the mountains of NC this past winter. Wouldn't get the smaller engine, I perfer the 5.4L.

If you can wait for the 05 and let them get some of the bugs worked out. I would also say if you ever plan on towing or hauling a decent load then don’t get the 4.6. The truck is heavier in 04 so go with the 5.4 and that will make you happy.

If you dont want to wait, Id say go for it. I traded an 01 F150 4X2 scab in on my 04 F150 XLT 4X4 Scab flareside. I havent been happier. I also have been lucky to not have any problems with this truck yet. Its up to you, pay them now, or pay them later, just pay them and enjoy the ride.

I say its really no difference. You will save more with an '04, and from what I have been hearing all the problems seemed to have been solved, and if you wait for an '05, you will probably lose rebates. Just my .02.

traded an 89 Chev in on the 98 Ford. I was sorry to get rid of it. It had 430,000 kms on it when I sold it. Now, 6 years later, I still see it on the road.

Tough call. The truck owes you nothing at this point. Its worth nothing to sell or trade in. My advice is to drive it until it collapses and then buy the new truck. Every month you drive it is a month without payments and increased insurance (and it will go up on a new Ford)

At the moment (2004), Ford definitely has it over GM in the Full-Size IMHO.

I think GM got caught off-guard working on the Mid-Size (Colorado/Canyon).

The Silverado/Sierra hasn't changed in a while. If you aren't going to buy a 2004/2005 F150 it might be worth waiting for the "response" from GM to see what that looks like.

heres a odd question. rear shocks on the f-150, mounted ouside the frame, now why did they not do this on the front?

Now I know your not gonna put 1700 lbs on the front of the truck, and I can't see stearing or spension componets getting in the way.

I started shopping/ pricing out a 2004 f-150 reguler cab xlt, or xl, 4wd, 8 ft box with the 5.4 and thier's not a lot of them out thier. will most likely have to factery order one.

Local ford dealer say's I can get a loyalty rebate of 750.00 cdn, because of my of previous lease, any perks being offerd the States?

Any one know why Ford did not mount the front shock's out side the frame, as per the rears hock's?

In my Layman humbal mind, I wounder if handeling coulld be improved if all 4 shocks were mounted in the same manner, or if we really want to get tricked out, How abought in board disc brake's. ( I'm just kidding )

Positively 2004 F150’s are extremely nice trucks.
One test drive was all the convincing I needed.
