A R E Cover
A R E Cover
I recently had a ARE tonneau cover installed on my 04 super crew. The fit does not seem to be that great compared to others I have seen.As it gets close to the cab it flares out and you can stick your had between the cover and the truck bed on both sides.I know they flare out a bit but this one seems much. Also I am no linger able to roll the rear windows down at speeds greater then 45 for the sound is so loud, you might think a helicopter landed on the back. And there are some color variations in the paint. Is anyone else having problems such as these.
Ive heard of the helicopter issue here before. I dont have it. But my Mom had a 2000 VW Jetta and that had the same problem. If just the back windows were down, you couldnt hear and it nearly broke your eardrums. It was BAD!! I made her get rid of that car..
Have the ARE Tonny and had to take it back to be adjusted (they cut some of it off!!), at the rear near the cab when opening the top had rubbed the paint off the truck - so I would rather it flare out to miss my paintwork! I also notice that the finish round the hinge does not look to good, almost like it is loose, any way hope they live upto the lifetime warrenty. I will take a pic and post over the weekend.
No problem with color, though the first one had to go back because the finish was not good - knicks in the paint to the white fiberglass etc.
Rick.

I have the ARE cover on my 04 F150 Lariat. I had to have it adjusted to stop hitting the paint near the cab. If it is hitting the paint it was not properly installed. An adjustment should correct the problem.
The helicopter noise from opening the front window is inherent in the F150 with or without the cover. If you also open the rear window behind the front it should go away. I complained about the noise to the dealership and thought it was the cover and they let me drive one without the cover to see if it made the same noise. It did.
I just crack the rear window and live with it. Or better yet just leave the AC on and windows closed.
