XLT -2WD- 265 70 R 17 Tires

Hey guys help:

I love the ride on my truck..... but want a little larger tire.

I just ordered a set of Michelin LTS/ MS - 265 70 R17. Diameter about 31.5 / width 10.5....

My stock tires 235 70 r 17 diameter 30"... Really want a little bigger tire!

I have a 4.6/ 2wd... so I think they will just about fit with out any rubbing... Will I have any loss in handling?? I hate the smaller tires, but they handle well.

Do you think I will have any braking problems, or significant loss of take off power with the larger Michelins. Will they fit ok on a 2wd? It seems like there's enough room when I measure by the wheel wells.

Please help... as we do the install tomorrow night.

Thanks for any input.

Joe

IMO, the two things you will notice when changing to those tires:
1. The ride will be alittle stiffer, and not quite as smooth.
2. Your truck will sit alittle taller.

I work with someone who drives a Suburban, he did the same thing (increased tire size), i rode in it before and after, and that is what i noticed.

Even tho on paper, one would think, "thats not gonna make alot of difference", actually you could really tell it was higher, especially when getting into the car/truck, and when parked next to an identical vehicle with stock tires.

Michelin LTX MS 265 70 r 17

Thanks Anaheim

Had the tires mounted this morning
(Michelin LTX MS 265 70R 17).

Look Great, really fill out the wheel wells.... Sits almost an inch higher (235 70 r 17 were 30.1; 265 70r 17 are 31.8), body at cab door measures 7/8" higher, I can feel the difference in the cab while driving.

They track well, no pulling at all. My BFG's (31's) on my Jeep pulled a bit to the right, but these do not. They are a bit softer than the BFG AT also.... although they are rated to wear as well.

You can feel the weight difference on the wheel a bit..... a little slower on takeoff, just enough to be noticeable, and slightly more work in handling the wheel.... not much though... very smooth on freeways. The smaller Hankooks were much lighter on the wheels, and handled more like a car.... this feels like my other trucks but smoother. Seems my speed is off about 3% or so, will have it checked and recalibrated soon.

Loaded (on the truck weight) they sit at 30.8" . My neighbor has Wrangler rts 265 70 r 17... and they only sit at 30.4" as we measured. The Michelins are also about 1/4 wider... funny there is a variance between manufacturers even though they are sized the same.

I think overall I will enjoy the look, and stability.

Joe

Sweet!
I bet it does look better, and f.y.i. i would have done the same thing.
I don't like the look of a real small tire on a truck either.
Enjoy
