Larger tire help!

HI All:

My 04 SCAB XLT (4.6) has stock tires, 235 70 R 17s.

I want to put on larger tires. I like Pirelli Scorpions STR 255/75 R-17; or maybe Michelin LTX 265 70 R 17.

In the past when I went to larger tires (over an inch increase in diameter)-- I had alignment problems (generally pulled to the right).

I know a lot of you guys, have gone to larger tires and or wheels, and I am wondering did you have to do front end alignments.

Has your ride quality changed after going to a larger tire or wheel?

I am expecting I may have to recalibrate/flash speedometer.

Thanks for your input.

Joe

I believe you could put the 255's on with no problem, you do have the 17" rim.

My XLT came with 255 General tires which I swapped for 265 Wild Country XTXs...I have a slight pull to the right, otherwise a general improvement in ride quality.

I beleive you will need to get your front end aligned if you change tire sizes. If your truck is still covered under it's 12month/12000 mile warranty, Ford will cover it. Just tell them you want it checked.
