Damage Report
Just got the estimate for the dent and scratches that some a-hole left me in some parking lot, somewhere.
$834.89
FYI: One piece of wheel lip molding is $111.93. That's one pricey piece of plastic.
See the damage in the gallery, in the Exterior album, if you haven't already.

I feel your pain my friend. Thats a lot of money for some of us for something you didnt do. Had it happen to me once when I was at work. A drunk came to pick up his vehicle from the dealership and sideswiped my parked car and one of the customers cars also. Then just kept on driving. I was lucky though, one of the service writers was outside and saw it happen and got the license no. When the police called and told him what he did he was more than happy to have the two cars fixed. It was either that or spend some time behind bars.
This shop is awesome. I've taken two vehicles there already and have no complaints. I'd be interested to see how they do the job. I asked him the procedure and he said that there's a new invention that came out on the market within the past 10 years, for body shops.
It's, I guess, a gun-like tool that welds a piece of metal (similar to a nail) to the vehicle and then they pull out the dent. After they pull the dent, the welded peice just breaks right off of where it was welded. They go along the whole damaged area with it until the dents are gone.
Then they clean it up, paint it and send it on it's way. This particular job will take about 4 days.

Just dropped the truck off tonight for the long awaited dent repairs that some a-hole left for me. In four days, she should be back as good as new. As a bonus, the shop owner is going to make up bottles of True Blue and Dark Shadow Gray touch-up paint for me. I, unlike others on this forum, never got any free from my dealer.
I'll post before and after pics in my gallery at the end of the week. Keep your fingers crossed.

He is the absolute man! He's had the most homers of all players in the MLB over the last three seasons.

Bodywork prices are out of control. Shortly after I got my truck, someone vandalized my tailgate. My insurance covered it, but it cost $788.26 to fix. That’s a lot of $$$$ for a tailgate repair! The only up side to it was, it was only the tailgate so I didn’t have to leave the truck at the body shop.
jpdadeo,
Tell me about it. The parts are price killers. The cheap plastic wheel lip molding was over $100.
Do you have a web-address for the Catch-All Extremes? I noticed your rear mat. I thought it was just one big mat all the way across with those kind? Or is that just the Husky?

Guigster
Those rear mats are from Wal-Mart. They got deep groves that hold a lot of dirt from reaching the carpet.

Here it is almost one year later, and an area of the two-tone paint that was repaired is starting to bubble out. I called the body shop this morning and he told me to bring it in becuase they guarantee their paint for as long as I own the vehicle. It's not in a high visible place, but I don't want it spread into bigger problems. Maybe since he'll have to make up some new paint for one little spot, I can get him to spot treat my painted bumper?
Oh, and unlike last year, Jim Thome is NOT the man so far this year.

Proving that there are still good business people out there, the body shop owner repaired my bubbled two-tone free of charge and put me ahead of all other scheduled jobs.
He also as a bonus cleaned-up/buffed/repainted my rear bumper that someone had slid into and scratched up pretty good free of charge. Something that would have regularly cost approximately $200.
He said I had to go through the trouble of bringing it back and being inconvenienced for a day, so it was the least he could do. It takes a long time to gain a customer, but only seconds to lose one.
Thus proving to me that to run a good business, integrity is more important than money.
