Question By-pass Oil Filters Better For Engine???

I have read a few things about “By-Pass Oil Filters” and how great they are.

They all claim to offer superior protection from wear & tear, extended interval on oil changes yadda yadda yadda.

Are they really worth it? I normally don’t keep a car/truck for more than 5 years but I’m sure it might help with resale value knowing the truck has been highly maintained.

So really, has anyone installed one of these yet and which one would you recommend? (Motor Guard, Amsoil, Oilguard, ect..)

I've never used one but would consider it if it makes the oil filter a little more accessible.

I'm sticking with Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend and will continue to change at 3,000 mile intervals. I know the book says 5,000, but I'm too stubborn to change now.

I would be interested in this as well. If anyone gets a vendor for our truck let me know.

I have an AMSOIL bypass filtration system on a ‘01 F350 diesel Screw and for that vehicle, or any heavy duty diesel truck I would recommend them. I am an AMSOIL Dealer and I would love to sell you a bypass system for your 04 F150 but I do not think they are needed in today’s modern clean burning gas powered engines unless it was installed totally for oil filter access convenience or was being used in racing / HD off road applications where quick filter changes would be desired.

Changing your oil and filter according to the manufacture’s specs at a minimum or changing according the extended interval guidelines recommended by the manufacture of extended life lubricants at a minimum will demonstrate high maintenance standards to a potential buyer down the road.
