5.4L Oil comsumption

Hi! I'm wondering about the oil level stick between changes.

This is my History.

I received my truck with 10 miles and the oil level stick it's full

After the first 300 miles, in the city still full

Then I travel from Monterrey Mexico to Las vegas. First 1500 miles full.

When I arrived to los Angeles with 3000 miles the level was in the middle. between the low and hi of normal operation

I change the oil myself with the motorcraft 5W20 and check the level to full.

I made the back trip to Monterrey and the level still full after 1500 miles.

Yesterday I check the oil at 6500 miles and its on the low side of normal operation.

My truck has 6 weeks of use and 7000 90% Hiway miles.

I need to know how much oil consumption is normal betwen 3000 miles oil changes.

Please help. thanks

My 5.4L burns zero oil (b/t 5,000 oil changes), but Ford has claimed in the past that 1 quart every three G miles is normal, labeit on other models.

Get yours to a dealer and have them take a look.

According to Ford, if it's not using more than 1 quart every 800 miles, it is not considered excessive. Every Ford I've ever owned has burned a quart between oil changes. Perfectly normal and actually good for the engine. However, I don't agree that burning a quart every 800 miles is normal.

Hi Frank! Thanks for your reply, How often do you change the oil?

I'm going to switch to Mobil 1 10W30 and look for oil burned.
