Magnaflow Exhaust?
I'm interested in the Magnaflow Cat-Back system, but almost everybody is talking about the Borla exhaust. I like the Magnaflow because I've heard good thing on other vehicles systems but have'nt heard opinions on our application. Please post you're opinion on this exhaust, the sound inside/outside, how is it holding up, intallation, price, where you bought it from etc. I like single side exit, if theres any other brand that has this style please tell me more info about it.
Exhaust
I too am looking for an exhaust setup. I had decided on the Magnaflow and looked up an installer from thier website. He is "authorized" for both the Magna and Borla systems. (I dont like that crossover pipe on the Borla) He also has a Mandrel bender for pipe fabrication. He is going to build a catback system using a Magnaflow muffler and will build anything I want. Single in, single out, single in dual out, etc. His prices for a single in single out with a chrome tip start at $345 which is a lot less that the $560 or so I see the Magnaflow online for. He claims to be able to provide a better value and performance for the money. He also has a reputation for service excellence in my area. He knows what I want too, a cool sound and a good looking exit. If I have any type of drone or other issues, he is going to rework it as needed. I am going to give it try. I will report back what I find out.
Hey SVTErick
How are those Carriage Works grills for the 04? Good Quality?

I was waiting for magnaflow since I got my truck back in August. After some research, I heard alot of people who just didn't think it gave them the right sound and wasn't loud enough so I went ahead and tried the flowmaster 40 series and love them. NO matter what you buy, magnaflow, flowmaster, gibson, borla, etc, they are all good systems, and worse case scenario, you cut off the muffler and try something else. Hope this helps.
I installed the Magnaflow split rear exit (duals) on my '97 Scab. Initially, the system seemed too quiet...under hard throttle, the FIPK induction sound was louder. But, after a few months, the sound increased to a mellow 'glasspak' tone. With Magnaflow, there is no cabin droning and the sound remains subdued, not raspy. When my sold '97 goes by the house, I drool at the cool sound...others in the neighborhood are irritatingly loud. So far, Magnaflow hasn't released a rear dual system...I'm still waiting to install one on the '04.
BTW, there's a recent thread by someone who replaced just the OEM muffler with a SI-SO Magnaflow...try search.

I have a single in/single out, side exit Magnaflow on my '04 SCrew and it sounds pretty good. It cost me about $230 installed. It's probably a lot quieter than a FlowMaster, but when you get on it, you know that its there. At idle, it is fairly quiet though.

I had my Magnaflow SI/SO catback #15821 installed back in early February. I bought the system online from a company called full line exhaust at fle-online.com for only $377.43 plus they paid for shipping. Since then their prices have gone up, unfortunately. I had a local muffler shop install for my for only $40.
I am very happy with them. The engine really roars to life from a cold start up. After a few minutes it idles down and is pretty quiet. During normal driving conditions you can definetly know its there with a nice low rumble. Then the engine goes from a growl to an all out roar from moderate revving up to WOT. Not too loud at highway cruising. Things got a little bit louder after adding Volant intake.
I highly recommend them.
