I bought Lojack for my new SCAB.

I live about 60 miles from the Mexican boarder and have already had a one car stolen and found in Tijuana - Another story but it was found at a Mexican Police Officers house!!!

The dealer installed LoJack but when I got home and read the work order noticed they also removed my factory installed alarm?! Does anyone know why they would do that? Looking for some intel before I call the dealer and ask them for my alarm back.

Do you still have an alarm, I mean, replaced with the LoJack system?

 

I had a LoJack installed through the dealer when I bought my truck but it was only the theft recovery system, not an alarm or anything else from LoJack. All they did was install the LoJack and did not remove the alarm. Keep in mind that our trucks only have a passive anti-theft system, not a real car alarm. Hope this helps.

 

Then that means LoJack doesnt actually "remove" the passive anti-theft .... correct?

Ok the dealer called me back and I think they made a mistake in removing the alarm. The word I got from the service manager was that there was an alarm installed with my new vehicle. But that I did not purchase it???? I was told the installed alarms are removed during LoJack installation???

There is a page within my contract that says the following:

Work or Items promised
LoJack System 1
Lifetime Lojack
1 Day rental

Items to be removed
None!

There is also a section that says:
Sold as equipped - No other promises made or implied.

Bottom line - I should have been given the alarm that was removed.

Am I crazy here?

 

Had you already taken the vehicle home or was the LoJack installed before you took delivery? If it hadn't left their lot and they had installed an alarm for their security while the vehicle was waiting to be sold, their normal process is probably to remove it during the final vehicle prep before you take possession unless you pay extra. If you took it home and brought it back for the LoJack, I would think the alarm was yours, but then again I'm not a lawyer. I'm assuming the PATS red light on the dash is still there and blinking as that is the factory installed antitheft.

 

I had LoJack installed on my truck and the PATS is still there and working. There wasn't anything to remove. I still have the blinking red light on top of the dash, the special keys, and another key fob to manage.
