Question Build date to delivery date

Hello,
I have a locked in build date for a 04 lariat of the "the week of April 19th". Can I expect delivery by May 10? I live on an island (the dealer is on the mainland), so I am trying to time this perfectly with ferry reservations on my days off work? any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Jake Allegrini

(The truck is going to massachusetts)

I guess every case is different but...my order was submitted to the factory on March 3rd, built March 23, at the dealer March 29. Now if only I could get there before June.

I hope the 133" scab isn't a problem because that's what I ordered 8 days ago. No build date yet. I know there can't
be many ordered, I couldn't find one anywhere in Canada!
Does anyone know if they're made on a separate line, or maybe
they wait untill they get a bunch of orders, or anything like that?
My dealer told me 6-8 weeks and I'd hate to wait any longer.
Thanks.

No, nothing like that. The assembly plants are sophisticated enough to have the different configurations shuffled and everything comes out right.

Well I was told by several sources they do in fact pool that configuration because only 10% on the F150s ordered are a 133" Scab. We need a factory worker to tell us the real story.

I hope you're wrong. If not maybe I timed my order right
and will get mine built same time as yours. I'll call my
dealer and see if they have a build date for me yet.

Well, I am not sure the "official" word from Ford about that issue, but here is my experience.
I originally ordered a 133" wheelbase scab approx. 8 weeks ago. After waiting 2 weeks, the guy I was doing the deal with said that he had talked to Ford and couldn't get an answer from anyone about when my truck would be built. I was also told by an anonymous source that Ford would only run the 133" after they got enough orders in. I wasn't about to wait indefinitely, seeing that I had already sold my other vehicle. I ended up changing my order to a 6 1/2 bed with my scab. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Did that speed up getting your order built and delivered faster?

Yes, it did speed up the process quite a bit. I get my truck next week, while if I had waited for the 133" I wouldn't have gotten the truck for another month.

It took 7 weeks to get my 133" Lariat Supercab. I was told it would take 6-8 weeks and they were right. It took a week to get my VIN. I was told then that Ford assigns VIN's to new orders on Thursdays and it would probably be the next week before mine came through. So if it wasn't assigned then I would have to wait another week.

Foruneately everything worked out.....

Ordered 3/25.
Vin 4/2.
Build 4/24.
Gate Released 4/25.
Picked up 5/4.
