Question Strange Radio Happening

I have the SuperCab XLT, 5.4, with the single CD/Cass/AM/FM radio installed.

This morning while driving to work, I was listening to the morning show on the classic rock station, all was good. About 4 hours later, I get in the truck to meet the wife for lunch, switch on the radio, only static over the FM stations, AM was fine. I go into lunch, come out about 45 minutes later, try again, and FM is working fine.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any possible causes?

Thanks for help!

Only thing sort of similar is when I accidentally go to FM2. I don't have any stations programmed there. I just cycle it back to FM1 and I'm good to go again.

Thanks for words lrudduck, I did try that, wasn't it, it was liek the entire FM capability was out. I even did the SEEK, nothing on any FM band. Like I said, after about 45 minutes, it came back. Of course the truck was shut down, then restarted. Is the radio tied in to the computer system in anyway?

make sure you antenna is screwed in tight, if it is, you probably have a loose connection somewhere, go see your dealer.

Check to see if anyone was running a spark-gap transmitter during the time of the problem.

Not sure what that spark-gap thing is, but if it is somethign that blocks all FM transmissions, that wasn't it. I guess I failed to state the FM radio was working in my wife's car when we met up. Just really strange.

After sitting all night, Working fine, turn off radio/truck. 4 hours later, no FM at all, turn off radio/truck, wait 45 min, start truck, turn on radio all works fine. Strange stuff. I will check the antenna, but it isn't like there was poor receptaion, ther ewas NO reception. I have to bring the truck in for some minor work, I'll mention it to service manager.

Trukmupper, sure you're right. Those guys will get ya, that's for sure.
Either way, it only happened for that one time, all was fine last night and this morning. Seems strange that something would interupt/interfere with the truck, but the wife's car was fine even as they sat side by side.

Oh well, I'll see if it happens again, minot thing in the big sciope of things, I'll just pop a CD in!

'twas a joke. Spark-gap transmitters can cause interference in lots of radio frequencies at once. They're not a commonly found device.

I had the same problem - it turns out there was a loose nut behind the steering wheel.

Nope, I'm 33 and have no ham radios.
I'm just a geek with computer and electrical engineering background and friends in the same fields. One of the EE guy's neighbors was being nasty a few years back. So, they fired up a spark-gap transmitter that he built with a directional antenna, and toyed with it a bit. The neighbor wasn't happy when he couldn't get any TV (satellite or antenna, he had no cable) or radio stations, and the technicians that came by could never figure out the problem.
