I just bought a 2004 Scab and was wondering!

I have owned it a week and just found this site and was starting to get concerned about all the talk about the nibble and shakes. Did this happen to only the first few made or is it in all the trucks? Mine rides fine compared to my 2001 scab 4X4 with the 7700 pound package that thing had a bad shake that they couldn't fix even after they replaced 2 tires. Is there a certain date that they fixed them before they left the factory? Thank you for your time John

I got it. But now that there is a supposed cure, I am going to tak it back and show them what to do. MAybe I'll just pull the yoke myself and lube it, and figure out how to "reset" the preload on the rack.

I do get a thump from behind like someone hit me in the rear and i remember that was caused by the yoke needing lube on another truck i had before. maybe i should take it in and have htem lube the yoke just incase. Does anyonw know if K&N have a filter yet for the 5.4?

Not to worry. I've got 5800 miles and mine have only had 1 problem with rear end shudder. Ford fixed it right up with the clutch packs without any argument.

It looks like most of the bugs have been figured out. With what Ford knows now and all the available information on the board a person shouldn't have too much trouble gettin one fixed if needed.

Best of luck and congrads on the new family member.

What exactly is the rear end shudder? I also have the 3.55 LS rear end.

Thanks!

It comes with 2 different symptoms.

In my case it was what felt like a quik little bumping in the rear end or drive train when taking off into a turn when the truck is still cold. The best way to reproduce it was to start off 1st thing and back down a slight incline and then go forward into a turn. In my case it was more noticeable turning left.

The other problem I've only read about on this Forum and it is when taking off in a straight line and much more frequent but less noticeable and it sounds like the fix for that one is to lube the drive shaft yoke?....(Anybody please jump in and correct me on this)

I hope some of that makes sense.
