SVTErick - Train horns?

I have been looking for a LOOOOONG time for a loud horn. Is that what you mean (in your signature) by train horns?

I would never get them, but I know JC Whitney (if they are still around) used to have oceanliner horns. Now that would be funny as hell.

That's what I want! But I don't want to spend money on something that I am not sure works like I want it to. I bought a horn from JC for my '78 jeep, and it was really high pitch. I want a deep sounding horn, like an 18 wheeler, or train. I don't want to have to buy a tank to feed it. I want to be able to push the horn on the steering wheel, and get that BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMP, BRRRRRMP, BRRRRRRRMP sound

I hear ya. I wouldn't mind upgrading the horn either but without the tank. My wife commented that my horn was too wimpy for a truck that big. So it looks like I have the go-ahead to go shopping.

on Ebay they sell the 3 chrome air horns for about $140. then you got a Viair 350 100% duty compressor for about $250 and a small 3-4 gallon tank $50 . your local airbag/hydro store should sell you the lines and all the fittings $30. theyre loud. ohh and its wired to your horn and its activated with an on/off switch on the dash or wherever you want to mount it.

If you want a quality horn Tuff, I would avoid J.C. *****ney and some of the lesser goods offered on eBay. The better horn mfg are Grover and Hadley. Here are there web sites:

http://www.groverproducts.com/horns.htm

http://www.hadley-products.com/home1.htm

Check out the install section on this site for some ideas:

For the truly train horn obsessed:

Personally, I'm thinkin' about adding a horn that plays La Cucaracha. Get more action trollin' with that kinda horn.

Viair makes excellent compressors. my setup was around $400 and better rigged and quality for the money than those other setups, but hey if you want to spend $700 thats all on you! my tank is in the bed along with the compressor.

I dont think any of you want an oceanliner horn. Those things are deafening. I've been on countless cruises and if you are too close to that thing when it goes off, you might as well be wearing earmuffs the rest of the trip, cause you can't hear *****!
