04 Tundra
I drove a 1986 Toyota one ton pickup for 18 years until I bought my '04 F150 XL 4x2 this year. It had been nickle and diming me for a while, but still had plenty of miles left in it. But I need more seat capacity to accommodate my wife and son, neither of whom were around yet in 1986. I tried out the Tundra regular cab, in comparison to the XL regular cab. The Tundra comes with a bench seat with only a fore and aft adjustment. There is no adjustability in the tilt of the seat back! That's less adjustable than my '86. Then there was the fact that the Tundra regular cab only comes in one trim line with virtually no options except for automatic transmission and air conditioning. After driving a one wheel drive pickup for all those years, I wanted limited slip. Not available in regular cab 4x2. I also wanted cruise control. Not available in the regular cab 4x2. Toyota may be building their trucks in Indiana, but they haven't gotten the hang of options that can be individually ordered by buyer preference. And in spite of the fact that the Tundra is several hundred pounds lighter than the F150, the gas mileage is the same. So here I am driving a beige F150 XL regular cab 4x2 short bed, with limited slip 3:55, cruise control, and dual media radio. This may sound like a stripper to all you Lariat FX4 owners, but it's a major upgrade to me, and I'm happy!
With manufacturers like Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Chevy, GMC, and even Nissan, there is a truck for everyone.
The problem is, you can't teach common sense, so thats why there are makes other than Ford.
