grills

I'm trying to find and purchase just the chrome grill surround piece, not the entire grill assembly. Has anyone seen one or perhaps has one for sale for the 2004 Ford F150?

I have the Lariat with chrome grille surround, but would like to have it the BLACK surround to match my truck.

Grill change

carpenter,

I feel a little like you. My 99 SuperCab Flairside 5.4 looks good with the color coordinated grill surround. That is what I wanted in my 04 Screw. My 04 is an XLT with the dark shadow gray surround, but for some reason the chrome is starting to look good and I am thinking about changing mine, too. I am guessing that at this point, a Ford dealer would be the only option. I have not seen the grill in any of the truck mags.

From my understanding, you can order an XL grill and remove the chrome ring and put it on your XLT. I'm thinking of this also....But you have to buy the whole grill as an assembly.

I contacted a guy at FordPartsNetwork.com (again). He said you (we) would have to buy the entire grille (surround & insert). Currently, the surround is not sold separately.

If you are just going to use the chrome surround, the Lariet grill is cheaper than the XL according to fordpartsnetwork.com.

The problem is trying to remove the chrome surround. I have not found a way to do it without breaking or cutting the clips/holders. I talked to the bodyshop and they indicated that why Ford sells it as one piece. It is not meant to be taken apart. A good deal for Ford, less inventory, easier process at assembly, replacement part cost more.
