Dual exhaust without muffler?
Minimal human population to annoy, no domestic or wild animals to frighten, no police or sheriff to give you a ticket, and far enough away from Portland OR for us to tolerate the racket. What about the Canucks just across the border? Well, they can speak for themselves.
Of course It would sound louder. However, if you replace your original with a fowmaster; two chamber, and cut off the pipe about mid-way, angleling the pipe down 90 degrees like this ) it would sound not annoyin but good loud.
I live in CA and we have laws for everything
my buddy cut his exhaust off at the cat and it sounds good. He has not gotten a ticket yet
but he could.

im pretty sure anywhere in the country its illegal to cut the muffler off. its just a whole lot harder to tell its cut off with pipes still comin out.
just dont cut pipes off too. my friend did that on his F-250 and it so easy to see theres no muffler. guess the lift helps. truck is big enough to almost see right under it if your walking or driving by it. hasnt got a ticket yet, houston police arent exactly the type that do anything, so hes lucky so far

This is the setup that I have on my Chevy. '93 K1500 with the 350. I had the exhaust dualed after the cat, no muffler, just 2.5" dia pipe going back to some chrome tips, 3.5" diameter X 18" long with an angled cut.
It sounds awesome, loud - but a good loud. Not bubba truck sounding IMO, just that nice deep and loud rumble that you would expect to hear from a musclecar.
Im not sure how the new fords are setup...but would assume that there is a y-pipe going into a single cat with a single outlet. Correct? In this case dualing it after the cat will yield the same result that I had. But if it is a dual cat setup then you will want to have a x-pipe or h-pipe installed to equalize each exhaust bank. If you do true duals with no balance pipe then it will "pop" and sound like a bubba truck.
There are no laws regarding muffler removal, only cat removal. There are certain noise laws, but the worst that you may get is a fix-it ticket. This setup is generally only loud when you put your foot down, so if you play it cool around the cops you shouldnt have a problem.
I have never had a problem with the authorities with my setup. But there is one cop in my town that really likes my pipes. He's a younger guy, and he asked me about my setup at a gas station one day. He has a similar truck, and wants it to sound like mine. Now whenever I see him around town (even when he is on duty) he usually rolls down his window and gives a wave as I give it a little gas.
