Problem Chld?
Well, I have taken my truck into the shop for fuel concerns 3 times so far. They claim that I am getting 16 city and 19-20 highway. I am still getting 9-10 city and 12-13 hwy. I now have to fill up 10 times and record my odometer and save my slips. They will then do a fuel consumption test.
Then I took the truck in on Wednesday and they had to balance the tires because I was getting a vibration between 50 - 60 mph. They told me that the factory never balanced the tires and they were hitting the ground with 6 oz or lbs (don't understand what that is - some machine test) Well they did that and the vibration is gone for now.
They also put a clutch pack in because I got the truck to do that hesitation in the back end all the time.
So, all is well, right? Wrong! I know have a howling sound in the back end at 52-55 mph. It is really noticeable and they are bringing the truck in on Monday to attempt to look at that.
This is really starting to annoy me. Hopefully they fix the problem and things will all be good. I tend no to beleive that, though...

Sounds like somebody screwed up on you clutch pack. Sometime it seems like nothin can get done right.
I'd see if I could talk them into at least doing a PCM reflash on it for that bad gas mileage. I've heard that has worked for some. So far it doesn't sound like they've really done anything for it.
LOL

They've done something for the fuel economy alright, they told me I have bad driving habits because the compter thing reads 16 city and 19-20 highway. "Our computer doesn't lie! You need to pay attention to your driving."
I don't think ANYONE could drive that bad to bring average fuel down 8 mpg over the course of a whole tank. (Especially considering I don't jump on it at all)

I try to jump on it least once everytime I drive mine. I've never gotten less than 14 and that was on the 1st tank. Granted we don't have much cold weather or winter gas down here but we do have that reformulated crap.
The dealership needs to get of of it and do somethin cuz 8mpg ain't good.

I'm with ya, TrukMupper. Everytime I drive my truck I've gotta floor it at least once, and usually it's more than once, and I get 15 pretty consistently.
Something about feeling that power is good for the soul.

Don't get me wrong, I don't baby this thing, I just drive it like it oughta be drivin'. I still don't think I should be pullin' this kinda mileage, though.
TrukMupper - what is the PCM reflash do for the truck? (at any risk of sounding dumb...)

Yellow, You couldn't be much dumber on the subject than I am. Most of what I know is what I've read on the Forum. There have been numerous threads on the subject.
"TrukMupper - what is the PCM reflash do for the truck?"
Basically it is a software reload of the Power Contol Module. Many who have had it done report more power or less throttle lag afterwards. I couldn't find the threads on it but a couple reported curing their problems with gas mileage.
Obviously most of what I have is 2nd hand knowledge. If I can come up with some of the old threads I'll see if I can get them to you.
Try this one.
