Problems to look for on 2004 FX4 SC

Guys/Gals

Please list all of the common problems that I can look for when i take delivery this Saturday. Just purchased an 04 FX4 Supercab and want to know what to look for.

Thanks, Jerry

Also, I've read that most on her with "reasonable" driving are averaging 15-16 mpg mixed. Feel free to comment

Look for the infamous vibration problem between 40 and 60 mph. It's usually the worst during a slight acceleration. I suggest you refuse to take delivery if the problem is there.

No no no

Actually if I were you I would quit reading this forum until you get your truck and have driven it for a while. You're already worried about a "problem" you don't even have yet.

Obviously if there is something wrong with your truck, don't take it home. But don't expect to get into a truck that rides like a Mercedes either.

The main commom problem will be a gigantic "smile" while driving your new Ford Truck. Another problem will be the "Hey, look at me" look on your face. But the biggest problem will be trying to keep your eyes on the road instead of watching the other drivers looking and admiring your new truck.

You'll also find yourself subscribing to every offroad/accessory catalog out there. You'll spend countless hours sitting on the porcelain throne looking for cool things to bolt on to your new truck.

At some point your legs will go numb.

trublu,

Believe me, I'm not convincing myself of any problems. Plus, this being the nicest vehicle I've ever purchased myself and add that I love the new F150's. I just know that with anything mass produced some items can be over looked. Just like when I picked up my mustang gt, the drive side lower ground effects weren't fastened to the bottom of the car. No biggie, just dropped in Autozone.

Thanks for the concern though. The only thing I'm not happy with is that I have to wait until Monday for the dealer to get the truck brought down here from AL. It's going to be a long 3 days. Oh, well.

I'd suggest not looking for problems after the initial test drive. If they're there they will find you.

Just sit back and enjoy the wonders of your new truck and prepare to be dazzled.

My thoughts exactly. I was almost to the point of not wanting my truck when it finally arrived after reading "tons" of vibration posts. I took my truck home on a monday afternoon, drove it a little on tuesday and went back to the dealrship on wednesday and signed the papers. As far as I could tell there was no vibration, except what should be expected in a truck.
