Removing personal door code

I set my own code by entering the factory code, then pressing 1, then entering my new code (door locks cycle to confirm acceptance). I read in the book to remove your personal code and retain only the factory code you --- enter the factory code and then press and hold the 1 button for 2 seconds. I tried that and it doesn't seem to work (old code remains). Anyone done this yet?

If I recall correctly from my recent reading of the owner's manual from cover to cover, the factory code will ALWAYS work. Even after you program your own personal code, the factory code is supposed to still remain active and I don't think there is any way to remove it.

Now as for deleting the code you entered, I'm not sure if you can do a straight delete or would just need to change it. But the factory code should work.

Correct - factory code always works and I want to use that one. I have it in my memory now and want to delete the second code I entered. Having trouble deleting second code. Changing is fine, but deleting is my problem. I tried what the book said and I can't get it to work.

Thinking outside the box here...

Could you just program the second code to be the same as your factory code?

change the code to the factory code, but IMO I would leave both codes in. just in case you forget one of them. Really wont hurt. someone getting into your truck will mostly likley not use your door code. The last time my truck was broken into they threw a brick through the small back door tinted window and reached in to unlock the door.

You're probably right about how a theif might get access, but I'm just being paranoid I guess...lol The second code is just as random as the factory code. I'll try setting it to the factory code and see what happens. I didn't think of that. Thanks

Straight from the book -

Programming a personal entry code
To create your own personal entry code:
1. Enter the factory set code (keypad will illuminate when pressed).
2. Within five seconds press the 1 • 2 on the keypad.
3. Enter your personal 5-digit code. Each number must be entered
within five seconds of each other.
4. After the code is entered, the locks will cycle, confirming that the new
code has been set.
Tips:
• Do not set a code that uses five of the same number.
• Do not use five numbers in sequential order.
• The factory set code will work even if you have set your own personal
code.
• If you set a second personal code it will erase your first personal code.

Erasing personal code
1. Enter the factory set 5–digit code.
2. Press and hold the 1 • 2 for two seconds. This must be done within
five seconds of completing step 1.
Your personal code is now erased and only the factory set 5–digit code
will work.

Problem is, I used the directions for erasing the code and it doesn't seem to work. I'll go try it one more time. No big deal if it won't go away.

Here's the scoop guys/gals...

For those of you with keyless entry system (the door keypad):

The onwer's manual is wrong. Wrong in how you clear/erase a personal entry code. This is a code you enter into the system to use instead of the factory code (but the factory code will remain valid for use as well). I wanted to erase my personal code but it wouldn't work the way the book said to do it. I asked my salesman (1956MarkII - from another site/forum) about this and he set me (and Ford) straight.

Here's what the manual says:

Your personal code is now erased and only the factory set 5–digit code
will work.

Regarding erasing the code, here's what the book SHOULD say:

Erasing personal code
1. Enter the factory set 5–digit code.
2. Press and release the 1 • 2. This must be done within
five seconds of completing step 1.
3. Press and HOLD 1 • 2 for 30 seconds.
Note for step 3: You will not hear the locks cycle after holding 1 • 2 for 30 seconds, but the process IS complete after 30 seconds.
Your personal code is now erased and only the factory set 5–digit code
will work.
