Found the cause of my steering vibration
02RegularCab4x4 (Many Thanks!!!) posted a thread with a couple vibration TSBs, and I read one TSB that talked about steering wheel vibration and the need to ensure that the flat spots in the tires have been worked out by driving at least 30 miles.
I've had a slight vibration in the steering wheel. Starts around 40mph, is most noticeable around 50, and goes away around 60. Today I went for a leisurely drive on a variety of roads. I put about 150 miles on the truck, and toward the end of the drive, I suddenly realized that I could barely feel any vibration at all going 50mph. The vibration was almost completely gone.
My hope is that once the weather gets warmer, the tires will loosen up a bit and it may not take as long for the flat spots to be worked out.
This might not work for everyone, but anyone that has the steering wheel vibration, be sure to make a mental note of any changes in vibration after a long trip.
By the way, I'm running with the BFG's P275-65-R18's with the 3.73 LS and 5.4L 4x4.
