Talking 1200 1200 mile round trip

Man are these trucks sweet! I just got back from a 3 day trip from Sacramento, Ca to Beverton, OR and it was a piece of cake. My 97' XLT was pretty good on long trips but the 04' blows it away. I can't believe how comfortable it is and how well it handles.

I can now say for sure that the AirRaid Intake and Gibson Exhaust make a huge difference it performance. My friend that went with me has a Tundra and was blown away with how fast the truck was. For really going fast I got pretty good gas mileage also.

The first FULL of gas I got 335.2 miles with 21.2g (15.81 mpg) The second tank I got 379.7 miles on 21.7g (17.50 mpg)
The last tank of gas I went 394.9 miles on 22.1g (17.87 mpg)

I was going about the same speed the whole time. (85-90 mph with the occasional lets see what she can do 110mph jaunt and still pulling)

PerryA...I assume those high MPGs at 110 mph were on the downgrade from the Siskiyou Summit into Ashland.

Actually, 2 times up the mountain for a really short time. And then a few times in the valley after Redding on the way back. No more than a mile at a time I would say. I didn't want to take to big a chance on getting a ticket!!!

I am not one to just stomp on it when there are other cars around. Pretty much out on the open highway with no one close. The only things that were at any risk were the bugs ;->

Still pulling at 110 mph? I thought the '04s were limited to circa 107 mph. Different tires affecting speedo?

Stock 17" wheels.

I can say for sure the speedo was at 110. And it sure seemed like it would have pulled much past 110. Shucks ;-) I'll have to get out in the boon docks to test it again.

they have a rev limiter, but it is an approximate thing, not exact. my truck will no longer accelerate at 105mph, but some people have gotten up higher, some lower. 110 mph is reasonable given what we know about the rev limiter on our trucks. now if someone reported 120 mph, that would be questionable and/or impressive.

I recently did a 1600 mile round trip, I was shocked at how much the fatigure factor in the 04 was reduced -vs- my 99 I traded in.

Sweet trucks inded.
