I have been avoiding the Lariat because of the interior color options for leather (black and creme). I have been considering the FX4 instead because you can at least get the flint leather seats instead of the black. A dealer told me today that you can custom order the flint gray leather interior (seats and carpet) on the Lariat? He said the Ford website would not let you order it in the build your own F150 section. However, they could special order it as the dealer. Does anyone know if this is true?

 

Um, I ask my dealer that same question about 7 weeks ago, when I placed the order for the lariat. I wanted the flint, he said it was not availble. He checked on that and trailer tow mirrors.

I like the cream (tan), but would have preferred the medium grey.

 

Thanks for the reply. I suspected that was the case. It is unbelievable what the salespeople will tell you! He even told me he had already ordered one with the gray. I was getting ready to place my order. I wish Ford would have kept the gray option available on the Lariat or let me order the XLT with leather. It would have been helpful for those of us in the warmer parts of the country. I do not like the crème color because it is too light for truck use. I saw a lightly used 2004 with the crème and it shows the wear and stains too easily. The black is not an option for warm climates such as Florida. I have owned one vehicle with black interior and I said I would never own another one due to heat. I guess I am back to the FX4 if I want the gray leather seats. Now, if I can only find a way to replace the black carpet.

 

I also asked the dealer if I could get Flint Grey captains chairs in the Lariat. No joy. I have the black, and I like it very much. I just wish the speaker grills were also black. They are the same color as the overhead, and IMO, look out of place.

Have the dealer "name that tune". Order the Lariat with the special dealer only able to order flint interior. The dealership should provide you with a copy of what was ordered and you can check the interior code by looking online at a Lariat at a dealership and clicking on show actual sticker. If the interior code on your order is different from the tan or black then cool. If not, call the guy on it. Odds are you will be calling the guy on it. We have some members who are dealers, maybe they might want to tell us if there is any such special order abiliy to get the flint color in a Lariat.

I checked with two other dealers in my area. They both said the same thing, NO! I was hoping to get an order in ASAP. One of the dealers I spoke to said he would be surprised if Ford did not bring back the gray leather on the Lariat. He said the interior color options and wood grain were the biggest complaints on the 04 Lariat. He said I was not the only one looking for the gray leather/carpet combination on the Lariat. I did think about trying your suggestion, but after the other dealer calls I decided not to waste my time.

 

Even if you could order it with flint gray you may have a mismatched dash panels because of the Lariat only comes in two colors..Becareful with that
