Skid Plate

Any of you know where to get aftermarket Skid Plates? I am looking for something like the SEMA Iron Man F-150 front skid plate, but I think I am going to have to get it custom made.

I've been looking for a skid plate of some kind to cover the area under the transmission cooler to protect it and all the exposed hoses. Haven't had any luck finding anything aftermarket so I've designed one that I think will work. I just need to find the steel plate and somebody to fabricate it.

I was looking for one as well and I couldn't find one I liked so I made one. The first thing I did was make a template out of cardboard. Then I traced the pattern onto a sheet of 1/8" steel ( My machines will only bend 1/8" steel or less)
Then using my vertical band saw I cut out the pattern and welded that baby on. If you guys find one let me know so I can take a look at what they have.

I dont have the skid plate yet, but you should be able to get to the filter still. I just want one that stands out once the 6" lift is in. If you look at the concept work of the Iron Man truck it has something like that. If anyone makes one or puts something on there truck, post pics, and then a sale price!

Yes I can still get to the oil filter ok and yes I welded it to the frame. It's my temporary solution until I can find one that I like.

sacteezyjoe,
You caught me gettin the name wrong. Cool. Sounds like we're on the same track but I was thinkin about welding an angle bracket to the plate and bolting it to the frame in case I needed to get in there. Hopeful somebody will come up with something that works and looks good too.

I've got the works part down. Doesn't look very good. I guess if I was to paint it or powdercoat it , it would get the job done.

Like I said before, I can still get in there and if I can't I'll just break the weld and re weld it back on when I'm done.

I found this

http://www.mm-inet.com/532607.shtml

But not sure waht the skid plate is suppose to protect.

The new Westin Bull Bar comes with a skid plate sort of. For those looking for front end protection and a skid plate.

Yep, I was all fired up to get the bull bar and skid plate until I found out that the skid plate doesn't really protect anything. it takes the place of the tow hooks which is totally unacceptable and it makes the truck just too long to fit in the garage.
Sure looks good tho.
