How much$$

I was wondering how much people are paying for their trucks. It seems like no one discusses this. Maybe its a secret. I did a search and came up with nothing before i asked. I know it can vary because of models and options and incentives but it seems like more people would talk about this subject to give us some leverage aginst dealers when buying to get the best deal we possibly can. it has been talked about, but no harm in asking again.

i paid about $850 over invoice. i got AAA pricing through AAA. only certain dealers participate in AAA pricing but it is a no haggle deal. call AAA to find the dealers in your area.

$300 over invoice. Did a Ford "Build & Price" and asked for a quote. Ford sent it to the local dealer (Walnut Creek Ford in NoCal), and they sent me a quote via email. Absolutely, totally painless. When I went in, I could have built anything I wanted, exactly what I wanted (Which I'd already done), for $300 over invoice.

I verified the numbers with both Edmunds and Kelly BB, of course, before I agreed.

F150 4X4 Scab xlt
brite red & arizona beige (sweet combination!)
3.73 ls
6 disc
front captains chairs

Finest truck I've ever owned, or even driven!

M.S.R.P. was about 40,0200...x-plan price i paid around 35,600 which was close to 300 under invoice....That was with a reflex spray on bed linner and a set of chrome ford nerf bars the dealer threw in...if you only paid 29,800 you got a helluva deal...!!!

100.00 over invoice, and I got any incentives, which amounted to 1300.00, I thought salesman was straight forward with me, didn't haggle gave me his best price up front.
Incentives were higher for chebbies but didn't want one.

When I walked in I asked for an appraisal on my trade.

They came back with the >= this <= that crap. $5k spread....

I told them lets cut the bull (nicely) my trade is worth $X to you, I want to know that number from you, regardless of what I buy on your lot. Encore or Excursion, doesn't matter.

They came back with basically KBB + $700 which made up for the brand new Michelins on my trade plus a $300 buffer.

Don't let all this A-Plan, X-Plan, American Quarter Horse crap screw with your mind. If you are a cash buyer or pre-approved FICO > 800 you can walk out with a great deal.

P.S. - I know its the way things are done, but I think all these special plans are bull_****. My money is just as green as the next guys.

I would have to agree and disagree with blitzkrieg. I agree that xplan can be achieved by just paying invoice which just about any dealer will accept. However, I do think that you can use rebates such as new college grad, etc. to your advantages if you don't mention them until after you agree on a price and are about to sign the docs.

There has certainly been no secrecy on this forum about the prices paid for owner's trucks. Disregarding the X/A plans, etc., an ordinary citizen should be able to approach a dealer's fleet manager and get somewhere between invoice less the $295 FDAF (as I did) or $100-200 over dealer's invoice. If you're dealing with a floor salesperson instead (ouch), expect to pay more since he has to receive a commission over and above the dealer's bottom line. His commission comes out of your pocket.

Brannong - point I was trying to make is that I think its bulls_h_it that someone gets a discount because they just graduated from college, belong to the AMQHA, or work for a company that has a deal with Ford.

We all use the same money. My money is just as green as yours or TruBlu's, and I shouldn't have to barter down to get the same price.

Thats my point.
