Two-tone captains seats?
Two-tone captains seats?
I've had my new 04 XLT Screw for a little over a couple of weeks but just noticed I'm not sure if mine came with the 2-tone captains seats I custom ordered. I have the captain seats but they look the same color (gray) throughout. Does anybody have any pictures on what the 2-tone captains seats are supposed to look like? Or can you describe what they're supposed to look like. I don't want to report anything to my dealer until I confirm that I do have the wrong seats.
Your help is appreciated.

This is right from the Ford build site.
WHAT? There are no two-tone captain's chairs in an XLT? Is this some sort of exercise in semantics. There is no structural difference between 'captain's chairs' and the driver/passenger seats of a 40-20-40 configuration. My XLT has two-tone premium cloth seats and every XLT I've ever seen has two-tone premium cloth seats, whether they come with so-called 'captain's chairs" (with center console) or the same seats in a 40-20-40 configuration with the fold-down console. In the grey tones, the seats are combos of dark and medium flint (grey). I'll have to agree that the brochure 'Medium Flint/Dark Flint' fabric appears monotone when viewed in the truck and is listed as 'Medium Flint' on the Federal sticker, but there's no argument as to the 'Dark Flint' fabric...very two-tone.
SteveV...I assume your interior is what the Ford brochure pictures as Dark Flint Premium Cloth on page 45.

Hmmm, mine definitely do not look like those pictures. The outside part of my seats are light colored and so are the inside part of them. Looks like my order got screwed up. My invoice definitely says they ordered the two-tone though. Looks like I need to talk to my dealer. Hopefully they'll refund me some money on the screw-up from the factory.
I'm also having all kinds of issues with my reverse sensing system. I might as well kill two birds with one stone.
Thanks for posting the pics.

I was confused by this too at first and luckily figured it out before I ordered. I think the pictures of the XLT interior in the front of the brochure are labeled incorrectly! That is really the Dark Flint interior and not the medium two-tone (although it really IS two tone!). What they call the two-tone is the Medium, lighter color on the outside. But, the center section is the same as the dark flint, so that's why they call it two tone. Look at the cloth section of the brochure and you will see that the center section of the dark flint and the medium two tone is the same (dark highlights, or dark flint). On the medium cloth the outside is medium flint, and not dark flint, so that's why they call IT the two-tone. Confused?
You're right on the money, Tocks.
My interior is really a monotone Medium except for the black 'flecks' in the seating surface area (there is a French name for this pattern, but I can't recall it). I remember threads on the subject of the brochure error last October/November and, probably like some others, I was somewhat surprised when the truck arrived. Back when I ordered, fabric swatches hadn't even arrived at the dealers yet. But, I'm pleased with my nearly faultless truck...at least I didn't have any of the several issues reported here except the engine vibe & bed shake.

Well I checked out my truck today and compared it to the Ford F-150 brochure and sure enough, I didn't get the seats I ordered! I found my original sticker invoice that was on my truck and it states that it came with Premium Cloth 2-Tone Captains seats but is totally wrong.
I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow but not sure what they can do about it. I don't want to give up my truck (even if that was an option) because I have sunk too much money into accessories already. Anybody have any ideas what Ford might do about this or if they will compensate me for the factory's mistake?

When I originally ordered an XLT, way back in June, I ordered it with two-tone seats. Then I saw the book and a truck on the lot and the two-tone seats looked nothing like two-tone. It was actually the dark flint that looked more two-tone than the actual two-tone. It made absolutely no sense to me and I hated the look. Then I decided to buy the FX-4 and get black.
But I did question this forum way back then about the seat discrepancy because I was sure that the book was wrong. But the two-tone looks anything but.

Well I called my fleet manager today and he said I needed to talk to the Service department. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and called Service. They told me that I needed to speak to my fleet manager. My ears were starting to boil at this point. I called my fleet manager back and he said he went out in the lot today and found another XLT Screw that listed the premium cloth 2-tone Captains chairs and he said the two-tone colors are not much different. I told him that my seats look nothing like the brochure and he sort of stumbled around on that one saying something to the effect that what Ford defines as two-tone for the XLT might be different from the brochure.
To make a long story short, I am going in on Saturday to take a look at the other Screw to see if those seats look like mine. If they do, then Ford has a problem with their brochure and how they define 2-tone. The picture in the brochure plainly says they are the 2-tone premium cloth Captains seats in the XLT!
Sorry I just had to vent. Haven't had a good experience with the dealership I bought my XLT from.

Here's the latest. After talking in length with my fleet manager and after he had talked to a Ford Service Rep, the brochure is wrong! The Two-tone captains seats are actually the light colored seats with a very subtle change between the outer and inner parts of the seat. The one pictured in the brochure is the premier dark flint captains seats (even though I would call it two-tone before I would call the other one that).
My fleet mgr pointed out to me a disclaimer in the brochure in tiny print on page 38 which releases Ford from any liability in regards to the brochure. I was upset for a while but am calm now. I didn't get the seats that I wanted and still feel Ford is to blame for me getting the "wrong" seats but not sure if there is anything I can do. I guess I've learned a good lesson from all this. Before I purchase another new vehicle, I will make them show me exactly what each option is and color and purpose so there is no mistake on what I order in the future.
Hope this clears up any confusion between the difference of the captains seats for the F-150.
