I got some "advice" from my father in law today and would like to know what you guys think. He worked in problem diagnosis (when something screws up on the trucks at the factory, he was one of the guys who worked on the fix) at Michigan truck for 30+ yrs. I'd like to know if you guys think it'll make a difference.
Ok here goes. He told me to undo the battery cables and let the truck sit for 3 minutes now that I've hit 3000 miles. Something about the truck relearning my driving habits now that the engine has had some time on it.
What do you think?
Thanks

I would not do that. No reason to. All you will end up doing is making the truck re-relearn your driving habits.
as a post script.. If they are like my inlaws.. just tell him you did it and the truck runs "so much better now", lol

From what I know, unpluging the battery resets the computer... I used to do it on my eclipse turbo for two reasons.... 1) to clear error codes (turn the 'check engine light' off) and 2) let the computer re-adjust its air to fuel ratio for whatever time of the year it was (summer vs winter), right before going to the track, after a while the computer will bring itself back to factory settings ..... not sure what benefits will do on a truck or any normally aspirated car..... now this is the first time I own a truck.
