Upgrading to auto locks/windows...HELP!!!

I have an '04 STX that has manual door locks and windows and I'm going to upgrade to automatic door locks and windows. I'm probably just going to get new panels for both doors so I don't have to drill through my existing panesl which won't look good.

I was wondering is anyone had any idea what I need to do this...I'm going to get behind the panels I have right now and see what wiring I'm going to need. I know my fuse box is set up for it I just don't know if I have all the wiring necessary behind my panels right now or if I need to set up new wiring. I'm just going to purchase the automatic lock & window assesmblies aftermarket.

What do you think????????????

i dont kow 100%, but i have heard that with some options, the wiring is already there. As the majoity of F1`50s will be equipped with power windows/locks, it is likely that they put the wiring harnesses in all vehicles to save time on the assembly line.

I was thinking that the wiring harness might already be in place as well...or moreso hoping. I just need to find all the right parts to do this. I was at my local Ford dealership the other day and the parts guy didn't think I could do it...I don't think he knew what the heck he was talking about. Any hints/tips from anyone? thanks-

Check out this thread. Some of the guys have replaced the instrument clusters, and they also mention adding the the door locks and windows on a couple of messages, if you read far enough.

Thanks for the reply...I'm thinking that it'll work. I'll just have to suck up the cost for the door panels, it'll be about 300 bucks a panel. But it'll worth the cost, I'd rather get new panels then cut through my existing panels. Sounds like the wiring will most likely be in place too...I'm hoping. My guess is the only wiring I have going to each of my doors right now is for the speakers. It'll sure save me a lot of time.

I'd definitely be interested as well...I'm with you SVTErick, to upgrade to the automatic windows/doors and a few upgraded options the price jumps about 5 grand. How hard was the install of the windows and locks? Was the door already pre-wired for it? What kits did you use? Thanks-

I'm not sure what your saying...did you have to cut into the plastic on your door panels for your new window/lock button frames?
