Weird electrical problems on new truck
3 weeks ago I purchased a new F150 XLT, 4x4, 5.4L.
2 weeks ago, I was driving along and the seatbelt light and alarm suddenly went off acting like someone unfastened their seatbelt. It went off after about 2 minutes.
The same day, the passenger side air-bag is disabled light came on and stayed on for about 15 minutes and then went off.
I took the truck back to the dealership and of course, they found nothing.
The vehicle has 2000 miles on it.
This vehicle had 1800 miles on it when I purchased it from the dealer, no idea how they put that many miles on it.
What would be my recourse here? Just keep taking it back each time something happens? Investigate the state lemon law?
Thanks!

I'm not sure about the xlt model. But my experience with the Lariat may shed some light on a possible culprit to your problem.
My passenger seat has a sensor in it to determine the size of the individual in the front passenger seat. A small child and the airbag off light comes on. Or if the passenger doesnt buckle his seatbelt, an annoying seatbelt alarm goes off( this can be disabled with how to instructions in your owners manual).
It sound like you have a bad sensor in your passenger seat or some pressure is being applied to the sensor. There is nothing setting in the passenger seat is there?
I dont know if the xlt is the same. Good luck.

You can disable the chime per the operators manual but you can't disable the airbag notice on the XLT. I've done it on mine and the airbag light comes on when my 65 lb. dog rides rides in the front seat. The sensor problem theory sounds good to me.

You know, in regard to the passenger side airbag light...as a matter of fact, my kid who weighs about 75lb was in that seat. Maybe thats why the light came on.
In regard to the seatbeat chime though, there was someone in the passenger seat at the time and they had their seatbelt on. It hasn't happened since that time.

My daughter who weighs 70# sets the light off and on. This appears to be the border at which the airbag is deactivated/activated.
As far as the chime going off it could be either the driver or passenger seatbelt is not properly latched or the switch in the seat belt latch is faulty. Deactivating the annoying thing may be the best solution. It takes a series of actions, including latching and unlatching the seat belt 9 times or some oddball number.
